Dionysus

I am finding that perhaps I have underestimated Diana's status in the world.

For instance I have found that Dionysus is:

1. The personification of vegetable life-This explains Bopcha limiting us to veggie names!

2. Was asleep in the winter and is awake in summer - This requires further investigation.

3. Functioned as a beer-god. - I would bow to recognition of full status!

4. Dionysus is peculiarly important as a goat-god. - Now we are talking!

5. Was variously addressed as the "horned child," - Oh my! The morning has turned 180°

Philadelphia's Baseball is on the Map again

Hello Everyone,

Don't know if you have noticed but Philadelphia Phillies is on its way to victory - at least that is what we are all hoping for. Things look pretty good right now.

Bopcha, are you really having too much fun? At least Sid thinks so. It sounds like you are having some nice weather.

Well, you all know how Sid has completely immersed himself in Philosophy, much to everyone's delight. It turns out this is no longer a phase, but rather a part of him now. In case you were wondering where the "delight" comes in, it is usually when he gives his philosophy morning lectures. Just think if he were in Oregon, you all could take part in this. So this morning, the lecture covered Zarathustra's epic journey of self discovery. In the midst of the "talk" Sid was saying something about Dionysus - which I can very vaguely summarize as the God of power and fertility of nature.

At that point, when I heard Dionysus (similar to) I tuned in again. Without hesitation I pointed out the name Diana originates from that Greek God. I assume that anyone with that name carries those powerful traits. I think this became a moment in which Sid feels he may have delved in too much philosophy, he knows more than he cares to admit. :-) :-) :-)

So what can I say you are truly a blessed family, we now have confirmed that there is a saint and a goddess in the family. And this is just the beginning, I am sure I will discover

superhuman traits about the rest of the family.

But I have warn you all, Sid is deep in research to be able to refute the Dionysus standing.

I'm sure he will keep you all posted.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Love,

Sandra

Volleyball team in Alaska

The Redhawk volleyball team in Anchorage last weekend. Haley is to the right of the moose!

All is well here ...

Nothing new to report here. Noah's classes have started and Jessica is working hard. Bill and I might go on a mountain hike tomorrow if the weather holds (meaning no downpours).

Love,

Dee

TGIF

Thank goodness it's Friday!! Sounds like you have been having just too much fun, Bopcha! I am sooo envious! It is still hot here (Humid), it is suppose to break this weekend, I sure hope so. I have had some sort of virus or something that has just drained the energy right out of me. Needless to say my exercise regiment has temporarily gone out the window.

Rock Creek

Judi and I, Steve and Karen visited on the plans for Rock Creek. We have to do more exploring but I did drive them to the upper Rock Creek road, and we crossed the creek and looked at Griffith Creek. He said that sometimes the city takes ALL the water from Griffith Creek and too much water from Rock Creek. Anyway, they are nice people, Steve lives in Alsea and Karen lives in Wren.

He said he marked the sites, there were six of them, where he would do the shelter for the minnows, so I am going to try to locate them. Also, he has many more sites on the watershed.

Tomorrow, I go to the Clinic to get my finger punched. It is just a momentary sting and then they put a drop of blood on a little tape, run it

through a little machine and it points out if ones blood is too thin or too thick. I look for a reading between 2.0 and 3.0.

The weather was beautiful, about 70° and the sun was shining.

KC couldn't believe that the egg business was just a legend with no scientific justification, i.e. standing on end only during the equinox.

Love, Bopcha

Glasses?

Today I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get my driver's license renewed for the next eight years. I took the eye test, and the lady asked me if I wore contacts. I said "no", so she said I don't need to wear glasses!

Deb came by. I guess she is having trouble with coyotes coming in to get her goats. She set a trap and caught the neighbor's dog! It made the neighbor mad, even though there is a leash law in the neighborhood.

Tomorrow I am meeting with Karen and Steve at the farm. They are the people looking into slowing down Rock Creek so that the little bitty fish will have a place to hide during high water. I will see what they come up with.

I guess Desert Flower is gone for good. We have found no trace of her.

So now we have Doctor Who, Herman, Islander, Popper---I will try to get pictures of each one. They won't be very friendly because they spend too much time with their mean, mean mother.

Interesting! The interpretation this group has is certainly different that the attorney! I will try and wade though the actual verbiage and see if I can make heads or tails of it.

Measure 37 and 49

Sid, if you want to know more about 49, the web site is oia@oia.org or Email: oiacc@oia.org.

Bopcha, w/love

I am going to vote against 49.

Missing chicken

KC is on her way home with Tornado and Nitro. They consistently won first and second in each of their races. And they were racing with a group of eight borzias. KC said some of the dogs didn't know what to do when they were turned loose. That is why KC likes to give her dogs lots

of experience in coursing so that they won't just look around when there is a lure to chase.

Sid, after reading the essay on egg-standing, I can now see where it is possible and not limited to the equinox. KC said her egg stood for some time, and I found it hard to believe, but the essay says it is possible. Hmmm!

One of the baby chicks is missing. It happens to be KC's chick, Desert Flower. Kay named her chicken Herman.

Ha!

Unlike the "evil one" in the west, I am up doing Saintly duties - such as seeing if I can balance an egg during the Vernal Equinox. However, it seems my Saintly status is keeping me from entering into the required contract with Satan.

I suspect that ever since Beelzebub secured Thompson’s soul - during the last equinox - that he has been far too busy trying to maintain control of his kingdom to risk further competition. But regardless of the reason, I have not been able to accomplish the feat.

I would refer to the following link. Bad Astronomy

Saint Sid

Saint Who?!?!?!

Sandra, I'm going to have to pretend I didn't read your last entry.

Kay, Tiffany, Bill and I went to an orchard/farm today in Olympia. We looked at the farm animals and bought apple cider. It was relaxing and fun.

The Beavs lost to Arizona State. Boo Hoo. The Ducks won. Double Boo Hoo. I am staying awake until I get some news on Haley's volleyball match in Fairbanks. She had a really good match when the team beat Alaska Anchorage on Thursday. Fifteen "kills." She and Noah just celebrated their 18 month anniversary. Yes, they actually did celebrate it.

Jessica stopped by after work this afternoon. She ate corn on the cob and salad, along with a tall glass of apple cider.

Noah's roommates came back to Seattle yesterday and today. John (the one from Montana) showed up with a broken arm! He got it mountain biking. I imagine the coaches are pretty mad.

Sid and Sainthood

Hello All,

My mother made the craziest comment last night when I visited her. She said that Sid was such a nice person - and he is almost like a saint. Isn't that amazing. Saint Sid.

I thought that was really funny and of course I have been teasing him about it all day. I bet his sisters did not know he was a saint :-)

Anyway, glad to hear from you all and Bopcha thanks for your reply to my message.

Stay well. Will write in again.

Love,

Sandra

It is good to hear from you

Sandra, it is such a pleasure to read the message from you. I wonder , too, what Sid is up to this year. One year it was chickens, another year it was fruit trees, another year garden seeds, I am always surprised and delighted as each new year rolls by. Hasn't the summer gone by fast this year? I can hardly believe the autumn equinox is here. Officially it is early morning, Pacific Standard Time, the 23rd. Something like 2:51

A.M. in the morning. KC is telling me she balanced an egg one equinox. I would try it if it wasn't so early in the morning. Maybe the Vernal equinox next spring will be a more reasonable time to try to balance and egg.
