News from Diana

Hooray! The Beavers won both baseball games today! We won the first with ease, but we struggled in the second game. It was one to one all the way until the bottom of the tenth inning. I'm exhausted! We went to the first game, and it was cold as heck. We listened to the second game on the radio.

Back to the Island tomorrow.

Goodnight all.

SKUNK NEWS

I DROVE to the farm and as I WAS going down the hill I saw Mr. Skunk in the chicken yard, the big portion. All the chickens were in the small portion of the chicken yard. Skunk was busy digging in the ground, I think for beetles, or maybe earthworms. IT SHOWED no alarm at my presence and I was not brave enough to go in the chicken yard and chase him out!

I did note his extremely fluffy tail, and that it was sort of off-color indicating that skunk was a senior and probably deaf or maybe sort of blilnd. I went to the house to get Judi and when we returned it was gone. Then we saw it walking across the field and finally into the woods.

Judi says the day before it was in front of her car and although she honked and revved the engine, it did not move until it was good and ready.

KC said, because skunks are really a night animal, it might have rabies. So Judi called the animal control people and they said there was no epidemic of rabies in this locality so far, so I guess we will just have to get along with it. The cat follows it but does not get too close.

We'll just have to be sure it doesn't get locked up in the chicken house overnight.

I never knew Diana was a singer - I am impressed and you even sing with the church choir. Your story about the recipe made me laugh. I can relate to that feeling of having a recipe not be so popular. It's not a good feeling but it happens to all of us.

On Easter, we mostly just did - you'll never guess what. We ate!! My mother prepared Easter dinner and as is the usual custom, we had two course. First we ate pasta and then came the lamb. We all tried to not eat too excessively because it is an awful feeling to eat too much and be so full. But what can I say the tradition is overeating. At least this time around I could move after the meal.

Nina and Alex came to visit me at the Veterinary Hospital yesterday. They got to see how much it is set up like a human hospital - with all the medical equipment, etc...Nina always wants to come and visit me here because she says she wants to be a Vet and she likes to see them in action. She is now completely fascinated with the dogs. She seemed to fall in love with a three-legged lab. Then she talked about rescuing a dog from a shelter. Amazingly, after her their visit, she called me and said that she wanted to donate $50.00 to the Vet Hospital. I can not believe that she wants to donate money from her little supply of money she has received from various birthday gifts etc... Sid thought she might want to save the money for her tuition. Well considering the cost of college tuition will probably be half a million by then, it might not be such a bad idea.

The kids got a tour of the new imagining center that has been built at the hospital. They were fascinated by the fact that a lion from the zoo had just been brought in a few days before to be radiographed and operated on. The lion is doing jsut fine now.

Looks like Noah is doing a good job in school. Getting an A is always commendable.

Bopcha, thanks for your report on the baseball team. Very disappointing behavior indeed, isn't it?

Love,

Sandra

Sonics beat the Trailblazers!

Sorry, Bopcha ... The Sonics really needed a win!

Easter morning

Good morning everyone and Happy Easter!

I am singing with the choir this morning so Bill and I are heading to church for the Easter breakfast after which I will desparately try to learn our song for the day. Luckily, I switched from alto to tenor a year or so ago and the music director's husband is a musician also so he stands next to me and sings exactly the right notes so I just memorize what he does. Lame, I know - but it kinda works.

Noah is going to church with us, but Jess can't cuz she has a brunch to attend. We are all getting together afterwards. Hopefully we can reach a consensus on a movie. Haley is spending Easter with her parents, and I'm guessing Gavin is doing the same.

Bill and I went to the mall yesterday and visited both kids while they were at work. While we were waiting for Noah to show up for his shift, one of his bosses sold me two skirts and a pair of earrings! I got Noah's discount so the price tag was pretty modest. I can't wear anything in Jessica's store. It is pretty much for the under 30 crowd, although my really skinny friend Diane got something there the other day.

Bill and I have to bring a fruit dish for the Easter breakfast. We bought strawberries and kiwi. Should be tasty. I tested the combo by making it for Jess for her lunch for work yesterday. She gave it a heads up.

Don't ever try what I did the other day. I got a random recipe off the internet and the inventor of the recipe said it was so-o-o good that all his friends just loved it. Ha! It was cream cheese, pineapple, garlic and onion powder. It was so weird tasting that when I took it to a meeting at church along with some crackers nobody took a second taste! Embarrassing to say the least!

Love to all,

Diana

Seventh

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has ranked OSU's digital archive as seventh among American universities and 27th world wide. I think our winning baseball team blew it for this year. Two of the players were suspended for shooting at cans in the housing area at 1:00 a.m. The bullets strayed and hit a house and a car on the other side of the fence! Hopefully a couple of other players will come forward and take their places successfully.

The sun is shining for a change. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. A white frost is on the ground.

Love Bopcha

Noah is a brainy as well as a brawny kid!

This quarter I am proud to announce that Noah got the following grades in his three 5-hour classes:

A- in Business Ethics

A in Marketing

B- in Statistics

I was thrilled to get the newest Dolly Parton CD in the mail yesterday! Tory bought it and mailed it to me completely out of the blue. So sweet!

Coincidently, I had to drive to Tacoma for a mediation today. Dolly sang to me all the way down and all the way back! I loved it!

I spoke to Kay yesterday. She is back at work and we arranged for Bill and I to deliver some boxes to her this weekend.

We took Jessica and Gavin out to dinner on Monday night to celebrate his first season as a Varsity Assistant Coach. The boys had a great season - they were undefeated in their league and came in 2nd in the District championship. The First place winner went on to win State and we lost to them only by 6 points. Pretty good for a bunch of modestly talented but very well coached boys.

Much love to all,

Diana

Nice Going Diana

Hi Diana,

Without a doubt those compliments are well deserved. You are probably one of the nicest and most approachable lawyers out there.

But then again what would you expect from someone who comes from the 5th smartest town in America :-) :-)

The headlines say it best. That is great.

KC.s dog Aramis underwent surgery. HE Had his spleen removed and his stomach turned around. Something like that. He is recovering.

Nice work, Diana. Referring to your last entry.

I'm so superior ...

Grateful words from another satisfied client:

Good morning Diana,

Great news! Thank you!

Speaking for myself and the rest of the team here, we greatly appreciate you and your efforts in this matter. Your unique combination of genuineness, human touch, legal knowledge and skills, and positive attitude definitely serve you and your clients well.

Thank you.

Thanks to Diana

Hello,

Diana, thanks so much for the OSU baseball tickets, that will be a nice event in the Spring. I am so impressed with the boot camp that you intend to do. That sounds vigorous. I am sure you can keep up with me running through the woods because there is nothing extraordinary about my running. Actually, out of concern for my knees, I have been doing different forms of exercise such as cycling, jump roping, boxing etc.. so I don't think I'm much competition when it comes to running.

Yes can you believe Nina is playing basketball. It is just a fourth grade team and there are boys and girls on the team. Of course the boys seem to be much more aggressive than the girls. I think Nina is more inclined academically than athletically, she's getting by with the basketball, I think her performance as a student is much better than it is as a player. But I think she enjoys it and it is still fun and good for her.

Wow I can just imagine the ball that Jessica is going to. She must be fussing over what she will wear, as any of us probably would. Too bad my mother isn't closer, she could make her dress. Making gowns/dresses for special occassions like that is my mother's speciality. Today I was reminded of when my mother made my sister and I's Communion dresses. Nina will be receiving her first Communion on Thursday and of course, she has to wear the white dress. My sister went out and bought that for her today. It seems to be a real scam. My sister went to JcPenny and she could't find a dress for less than $90.00. Then I remembered the cute little dresses my mother made for us when we received Communion. I think we still have one of the dresses somewhere around my mother's house. The dress turned yellow but it is still really cute. Too bad Nina can't wear that dress.

Well I guess I better sign off and get some sleep. Hope everone is well. Have a great week.

Love,

Sandra

Palm Sunday

We sang "Old Rugged Cross" today. I was darn near sobbing by the end. I can never make it through the whole song - it reminds me so much of Granny.

Nina? Playing basketball? I am thrilled to say the least!

Happy Birthday, Alex! I can hardly believe he is already six!

We snagged a bunch of OSU baseball tickets. Can't wait to see a few of their games. They should have a pretty good season.

All is well here. Noah is studying for finals, and Jessica is going to the merchants ball - a big festivity thrown by the Kemper Freemans (the rich folks who own Bellevue Square - Jessica's mall. She is excited.

I'm thinking of signing up for "boot camp" a 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. workout put on through the City Rec Dept. It meets 3X a week at the high school stadium. It is headed by an ex-Olympian of some sort. If I manage to get through it then I think I may be able to keep Sandra company as she runs through the woods.

Love,

Dee
