Noah's ticket to CHILI

Gosh, KC -- I bought Noah's ticket to Chili instead of to Chile. Wonder where he'll end up? He may be VERY unhappy with his mother.

The Blakneys and Bettye will only be using three of the four Hilton rooms. Who wants the last one?

Mother - would you like to stay there and hide out from your evil children?

Ah, So Sweeeet

Gee, Dee and Bill - you two look so good together, it's really heart warming. I don't even have to mention your look of being extremely content with your surroundings. Love KC

Back from Paradise to Paradise

As you can imagine, we have been pushing hard to catch up on work etc. etc. Here's a glamour shot of us in the meantime.

This is us in front of the pool. The ocean is beyond the restaurant (the grass covered building in the back).

The Parson Plan

Hello Everyone,

The Parsons have finally pinned down a time schedule for their visit. The whole family will arrive on Tuesday, August 5 at Noon. They will depart one week later on August 12, again leaving at Noon or earlier, which is the same day Sid and I leave. As far as I know they will not be bringing any special guests like Nina's bunny, frog or birds. Well, one must think take these things into consideration when you are dealing with the Parsons family. I am just kidding of course. I think the only guest will be Nina's special doll Nellie. Thank goodness right?

How about the daily journal Diana and Bill are providing of their daily activities in Mexico - kind of nice, right? I really enjoy hearing about what is going on in what could be considered "another world." Diana's account of the animals they are seeing is really well done. The latest report says they saw pelicans. I've never seen real live pelicans but would love to. I think I would really enjoy seeing the exotic birds of any new territory. There are so many different types and what I love is the vivid colors that birds come in.

It's so amazing.

KC, with your photographic talents, have you tried taking shots of birds (especially unusual ones). That would be difficult to do but I am sure if you could get some good photos, they would be very popular, or even in demand.

Anyway, I guess I should get back to finishing up some of my work before I close up shop for the evening.

Hope everyone is well. By the way, I've been enjoying Tory's e-mails/responses to Diana. She is funny and says interesting things. Wish she would post on the blog, it would be fun to read her entries.

Bye for now,

Sandra

Trying Again

I SAW A mama racoon cross the road this morning, and it was followed by three babies.

I received a three pound hand held weight at REPAK.

Dexter....Chile....

Hmmmm - I don't know Sid. A serial about a serial killer???

Has anyone seen the Happening yet? Or Sex in the City?

Dee - is it possible that JJ is from Chile rather than Chili? (Tee hee)

Awesome pictures KC!!

Wow! That is really something.

Here is a recommendation for you all. It is a great television series called "DEXTER" It is being run on one of the cable stations but the first season is available at video rental stores. If you get a chance, watch season one and see what you think! Some people find it disturbing, I of course find it to be...exceptionally delightful. As Dexter would say "I have Lived in darkness for a long time but my eyes have adjusted." Beware Diana.

Based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay, DEXTER stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award-nominated Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, an incredibly likeable forensics expert for the Miami Metro Police Department who also happens to be a serial killer—but one with his own moral code in that he only kills murderers who can't otherwise be brought to justice.

I think that Judi and Kay will love this as much as I do! Diana and KC..Hmmmm I'm not sure?

Let me Know..

Dexter

Much Love Sid

Racing vs Iowa Flood of 2008

Well - here I am, back in the little house. I was supposed to be putting racing silks on Comet and Charger near Chicago right now. Unfortunately, between Chicago and me lies the big state of Iowa. It seems the storms of the past few days that had put me into the basement of my landlord with a tornado within hearing distance, also dumped huge amounts of water on Iowa. So...when I blithely loaded the hounds in the van yesterday for Chicago this is what I found.....

I got all the way to Des Moines before I began to notice that there was a LOT of water around.

This appears that is used to be a city park. It will be awhile before anyone will be running bases under the lights!!

I managed to snap the cars that the dealer managed to save--unfortunately I didn't capture the ones that he wasn't quick enough to put onto higher ground. Those cars only had the tops showing. Great picture but I missed it.

I figured I'd better get some gas since I figured I might end up on a detour someplace--unfortunately, I STILL hadn't quite grasped the full dimention of Iowa's situation. I was focused on racing. If the situation wasn't so picturesque, I'm not sure I would have noticed anything unusual.

No matter how I tried, I could not find a bridge that was above the Iowa river. I simply could not get across and finally had to go all the way back home--nearly 500 miles and 9 hours on the road for nothing. I did get to experience Iowa's Flood of 2008, a 500 year flood according to the news reports I belatedly listened to.

Have Fun and Inventing Farm Equipment

I loved the picture of Noah and his friends. Really nice snap and some really handsome guys. Also, I'm fully expecting that you'll be posting pictures to the blog Dee. That way we can sort of share in "real time" for adventures. Meanwhile, here's a picture of the contraption that Tom rigged so he can start and keep a strip of ground nice for the hounds to run on. He thinks a little water will help encourage the grass more than the cactus. I hope so too!!! He got the water tank from Craigs list and riggedup the sprinkler by himself. He says the water lasts for four sweeps of the hopefully-soon-to-be-grassy strip. Pretty inventive, huh? Love, KC

Here's a picture of Tom's "water spreader."

Noah and his buddies

Noah, Rob, Sam, JJ and John. Noah and Sam flew to L.A. to celebrate Rob's 21st birthday a couple of weeks ago. He is going to visit JJ in Chili in December. Last summer he spent time with John in Montana. Luckily, Sam is a local boy!

The boys came over for a barbque last night.

Mazatlan

This week Bill and I are trying really hard to get our work and house ready for our week long trip to Mazatlan, Mexico. We leave Sunday the 15th and come back on Sunday the 22nd. You may recall that I bid on this trip as part of a Redhawk's fund raiser. I did not think there was a snowball's chance I would be the winner of the bid! I couldn't get either kid to go, so Bill and I are going. We will no doubt have a great time. We will keep in touch via email - Jessica and Gavin were down there last year (she won her trip at a Redhawk drawing - so her trip cost about $2.00) and she says you can rent computer time at the resort.

Later,

Diana

Leap for Joy

I think that Bill's Leap for Joy would be a wonderful photo opportunity!

Weekend Results

Hey Bill - good job!! Bop told me you worked that lopper until she had no more place to stach the slash!! I'll bet it was fun to run. Havng a power assist must be terrific for an otherwise tough job. I was talking to our co-breeder down in Texas yesterday. She just purchased a used logsplitter from a rental shop going out of business. She used to swing an ax and wedge just like you do on occasion. I wouldn't bet that a logsplitter would be one of Bop's REPAK prizes, but one can hope!! You'd be leaping for joy I expect although as a photographer, I'd be sorry to lose the photo op you provide me.

Wasn't Big Brown's run at the Belmont a disappointment? I couldn't bear to listen to the rehash on TV, so I turned it off and went shopping for dog treats instead. Comet and Charger deserved treats because those little guys turned on the afterburners for each other during Saturday's straight race next door in Iowa.

Did I tell you that it appears that Kazan's mate Laika is indeed pregnant? We expect baby Kazans and baby Laikas to enter the world on 8 July 2008. We are taking a puppy instead of a stud fee because we think the puppies will be dynamite in the show ring and in the field. We will know in a week if Carmen and Nitro are expecting. Melilssa says Carmen is acting her normal self, so I'm a little nervous whether she's PG or not. We're taking one of those puppies too. Ambassador will be a granddaddy--if she's pregnant. I'm nervous.

Charger in blue beating Comet and the competition to the lure on Saturday. The little boy, already a straight racing champion, add a point toward superior champion.

Here's Charger looking surprised because Comet (not shown) beat him to the lure on the 3rd on final heat. Charger still won the day on Saturday, but that doesn't mean he didn't have to work hard!!

Is that enough dog news for you all? Greeting from the Zoiboyz to little Storm, Nina and Alex's little rough collie. I'll bet he's growning up FAST!!

Love to all, KC
