Good for the Phillies!

Talk about color. The ground under the walnut tree is yellow. About 30 crows are under the tree making it yellow and black.

I guess my rat just wanted OUT. Since eating a hole in back of the dishwasher, I haven't seen or HEARD any trace of it.

Diana and Bill are coming down tomorrow for the homecoming game. It starts at 7 p.m. It is rainy today, but hopefully it won't rain tomorrow.

KC and Tom are in Oklahoma with their guests from Germany.

There are 5,148 walnuts on the ground. Does that sound more believable?

Love, Bopcha

So Much Red

You should see all the red we have in Philly today. This is the day of the parade and 2million people are expected to show up. The parade will take place in the Center of the City and needless to say there will be gridlock everywhere. But anyway, it sure is funny to see an entire city committed to wearing the same color. Of course, I in my absent mindedness, am not wearing red, and instead am wearing yellow and black. How appropriate don't you think?

I mean really, I can barely pull together my wardrobe in the morning as it is. But then to try and remember to wear a certain color, now that is a challenge :-) I know I sound pathetic don't I?

I consider looking for something to wear for work every day an enormous undertaking. Of course I never felt this way in my 20's and 30's. Hmmm could it me an age thing? I remember one day my hairdresser saying to me that some days when she is riding the bus on her way to work, she actually gets jealous of people who are wearing scrubs to work. And in a perfect Philadelphia accent and style, she said to me, "I seen these people in scrubs, and I think to myself, why do I got to look cute?" It was the funniest thing because I feel the same way.

So if any of you know of any senior administrative jobs where you can wear scrubs, let me know, I would be very interested. Oh by the way, I choose scrubs because it is sort of like wearing pajamas to work. They look so comfortable and they don't even have to fit well.

Oh Diana by the way, I would like my employer to settle disputes with your law firm - seems like that might be one way to get a raise. Thanks for sharing that comment about Murray's employer - that is a good done.

Happy Halloween to everyone. And in case you were wondering, Nina is a witch but better yet Alex is dressed up as a police man. He is the smallest police man we will ever see!

Can you imagine?

Love to all,

Sandra

No more potential for a conflict of interests!

Murray's office and my office settled our case. Here's what one of Murray's employers wrote to me today:

"It has been a pleasure working with you in resolving this unfortunate dispute. I’ve said that before at the close of other cases, but I think this is one of the few times I truly mean it. I’ll see what I can do about getting Murray a raise."

Jon

Go Phillys!

I thought the Phillys were going to wrap it up last night, but it seems the weather got in the way.

We are having beautiful weather lately. Good for catching up on yard work (and for counting black walnuts).

Noah and JB are well as are Bill and I. Not much happening until the big HOMECOMING game this weekend.

Dee

Walnuts

I 'counted' the walnuts that had fallen on the ground and came up with a total of 51,480. If you think this is incorrect, come out and count them yourself.

The rat (or rats) is giving me a challenge. It doesn't seem to be interested in the delicious treats I provide for it in the live animal trap. Instead it seems to like fiberboard, wood, and insulating tape. Judi found a bunch of shavings from the fiberboard in back of the dishwasher and a hole in the wall. It has stripped of the weather stripping on the bottom of the hallway door. If I thought it just wanted to find a way out, I would leave the door open for it.

I am looking forward to seeing a picture of Nina with her FANGS for the holiday. Must be truly scary.

Ratoutuille

Hello,

Oh no Bopcha, could you possible have a little ratoutuille in your house. Just the other night, Sid and I watched the movie "Ratoutuille" about the little rat who was actually a wonderful chef. I am sure you have all seen or at least heard of the movie. The rat was really cute in the movie, but I don't think it would be so easy to appreciate such creatures when they are uninvited in your house. That's just me of course. Sid tells me Kay had a pet rat once so I don't want to assume anyone else feels the same way. I also would rather see the rodent than hear it only. Something about hearing the little creature without seeing it makes me jittery. Well Bopcha, good luck in capturing the uninvited guest.

Today was very hectic indeed. I was with Nina and Alex for several hours. I was trying to get some photos done for my photo class and needed to work on pictures of "motion" for my assignment. Well there is certainly never a shortage of movement when it comes to Nina and Alex. They actually never stop moving, it is just a matter of capturing the movement before they are off and gone to the next activity. The Photography class is an enormous amount of work. Taking the photos is just part of the challenge. What follows the picture taking is the entire developing process which is really neat. But it also requires hours of work in the dark room. It is hard to fit it in with the work schedule - which has been quite intense over the past few weeks.

I have a real appreciation for the process of developing your own film and prints now that I have been doing it. It really is a lost art. I love the fact that it requires thinking but at the same time it is a very manual process where you are actually standing and moving while working.

That is really idea work for me, I am not a good sedentary office worker, could use more movement.

Would love to write more, but I can feel myself getting really tired and I will have to get ready for work tomorrow :-(

Have a wonderful Week All!

R0dents

I hope I don't have one THAT big. I will let you know when I catch it in my live animal trap. I didn't catch it last night although I baited it well and put the trap in my dining room. I did hear some more activity last night.

Today the sun is shining. You can't believe the crop of black walnuts I got this year. They are still dropping. I haven't been plopped on the head yet, but I expect it if I walk underneath the tree. I stopped counting at 150,000 (just kidding).

Love, Bopcha

Good to meet you, Kay

Re: bites on the house.

This morning, like 2-3 a.m., I heard chewing inside the house. I got up and explored with the flashlight, went back to bed, more chewing, got up again, exploring again, shaking all boxes and shakable furniture, went back to bed, more chewing, covered my head and went to sleep. Yes, there was still more chewing.

This morning I see something has gnawed the corner of the door that separates the living room from the hallway. Not much, but a little bit. I am going to set my live animal trap upstairs. :-(

Lo

ve, Bopcha

Upstairs from the basement!

Hello Family

KC and Diana gifted me with a computer and it is amazing to have one that works and with the assistance of Sid, I have a password that works.

No bites on the house. I was going to pull it off the market in November and wait for Spring but have decided to leave on the market.

Theresa was surprised with gifts from her superiors for her handling of the Emerald Challenge 2008 held at China Lake. She helped coordinated it and it consisted of various branches of the military from the U.S. and other countries. I do not know anymore than that. Last week she was called into a meeting that was actually a surprise get together so her suuperiors could present her with several gifts - a coin on a stand depicting various branches of the military, a patch, a crystal bowl on a revolving stand with aircraft on the bowl and some other items. Apparently, she did an outstanding job and yes I am bragging.

Gina's baby is due in a couple of weeks and that will give me 14 grandchildren (I think). I have some grandchildren doing very well and some very off track. You won't hear a lot about the ones off track because with them, I just hold my breath that they live through their bad choices.

Today I going to a Christmas Bazaar in Tacoma with Diana and Jessica and possibly Bill. It has turned into a yearly event and I hope to find some unique gifts.

Okay where the heck is spellcheck?????

Slow cooker!

That's a great prize!

We use ours a lot - especially in the winter. It is so nice to come home to hot food! It is really nice with pot roast or chicken. Yummmmmmm...... I might just buy a chicken and stick it in my slow cooker today!

Noah's bb team (the one Gavin is on) won last night (first game of another 8 game series). Noah almost got into a fight with a 5'7" 130 lb. child who was on the other team. The "child" got a technical over the encounter and had to sit out for awhile.

I guess dog athletes and people athletes both engage a little too much some times!

Love,

Dee

Repak

Today I won a slow cooker. I thought you all would like to know! Love, Bopcha :-)

To Sid the Kid

Sid,

Kay is up and running on her home computer and wants to be able to yell at you through the blog.

Do you remember what her log in is?
