Corvallis for the Fourth of July

Bill and I decided we wanted to celebrate the 4th in Corvallis. We will drive down early on July 3rd and go home late on the 4th (Jessica's BD is the 5th so we need to be home to celebrate with her).

I am so sad sad sad about Gabriella's daughter. I sent condolences. Breaks my heart.

Love,

Dee

KC and Tom's Empire

I am on one of the balconies sipping coffee while KC gives her hounds a little love.

Colorado and today's hike

Bopcha is a good rancher - one of KC and Tom's long-nosed hounds is on the vast Colorado horizon.

Katrina, me and JB on a hike we took in Discovery Park today. Whew!

Arrrrrgggghhhh!

Sandra! I can't believe I missed your birthday!

You know (I hope) that I adore you and believe you have been and always will be a treasured member of the family!!!

Love, Dee

Sandra

Hope your birthday is very, very, very happy. Love, Bopcha

New Address & Phone

Tell Noah that he failed to pass the deadly germ onto his Aunt Kay. My new address and phone number:

2655 NW Highland Drive, #118

Corvallis, OR 97330

541-207-3590

The computer guy came out and hooked me up this morning.

Have been taking the dogs to a local park. Yesterday we saw a doe and her fawn and one other solitary deer. Of course my great hounds did not see them. At this point the deer would have to walk up nose to nose before the dogs would see them. Today we say nothing but had a great walk.

My mini-home is coming together slowly but surely. Today I picked up two bar stools for my breakfast bar and an office chair for my computer (all from Goodwill). Looking now for a plant stand to put in the corner.

Bopcha has a ton of cherries on her trees and I must say I ate a lot of them yesterday.

Noah

Noah, you will have one more reason to be famous. Being sick following graduation is not very noteworthy but think of the memories that follow! I hope your recovery is rapid.

Diana, the pictures were fantastic. Sid pointed out the reflection of Kay in the lens of Noah's glasses.

I came away from repak with an insulated chest for perishable food.

Summer is here. Isn't it wonderful the way the seasons change? Love, Bopcha

Diagnosis

Noah has non group A strep. It is a type that does not cause rhumantic fever (spl.). He also may have mono but they aren't sure. His monocytes are elevated, but his white blood count is not as high as they would expect with mono. He may have it, however, as the test sometimes will not come back positive in the early days of sickness.

Regardless of the diagnosis, my poor boy is really suffering. His lips are swollen and covered with open sores, his throat and tongue are swollen and blistered. He was hurting so much that we called our doc last night (she was on call) and she prescribed a steroid to reduce the swelling, and something called "magic mouthwash." Its purpose is to soothe the pain of the open sores.

Enough of that! We are just hoping he didn't infect anyone.

Love,

Dee

Noah is sick

Right after our father's day brunch, I took Noah to the emergency room because his throat was swollen and his tonsils had white blisters on them. They tested him for strep. The quick test was negative (it is 80% accurate - but the more accurate culture takes 2 days). They sent him home with pain pills and told him he had a nasty virus.

On Monday he was worse. Bill took him to our doctor's office. Our doctor said she thought he had strep and maybe mono. She took a blood test and a throat swipe. We should know in a couple of days whether he actually has either of those.

He spent the night at home, and this morning he said he felt a little better but that he kept breaking out in a sweat all night. Anyway, hopefully he is on the mend.

HOWEVER!!! Everybody who has seen Noah lately has been exposed! Watch your health, and I will keep you abreast of developments.

Love,

Dee

Graduation and Father's Day

Kay entertains her nieces, Tory and Jessica at the Saturday night bar b que.

A lively conversation at another table!

The dog conversation entrances all.

Bill and Bettye dressed to the nines for graduation.

Proud father and son. Noah's lei was given to him by a Hawaiian classmate.

Noah and his roommate Rob. Rob lives in L.A. and is contemplating law school.

Noah and Haley remain good friends.

Father's Day marks the end of a week of celebration.

Thank you, Sid

The picture of Noah is pretty sharp! Thank you for making it available on the web. Love, Bopcha

Kay is in her new home!

Kay and Judi worked hard, and by Thursday night Kay and the chihuahuas were in their new home! It has been non-stop work for these two Picht sisters over the last few weeks and I think they deserve a day off! Judith only gets one day off as she heads to Cousin Roy's house this Saturday to begin making plans for catering Elizabeth's upcoming wedding. Whew!

Noah spent yesterday hanging out with Bettye, Benita and the two little ones (Gabrielle and Lauren). He said he got a good glimpse of how challenging parenting is. They all had a great time visiting the aquarium and taking a ferry ride. Noah was at least as tired as the little ones at the end of the day.

Bettye heads home this morning and Benita and the kiddos head home late tonight. The house will seem very, very empty.

Noah got a B a B+ and an A this quarter! Hooray! Now we can continue to get the good student discount on our automobile insurance.

I am meeting Tory at Green Lake tomorrow morning for a jog around the lake. It will serve as motivation for both of us.

Love to all,

Diana
