Hello Dear Family

Wow it has been a while since I've had any down time to even write on the blog. Work has been rather busy (that is a bit of an understatement). Let's just say I am committing a major portion of my life to work. My bosses should be proud :-)

Well it sounds like we have the perfect "ingredients" for a culinary feast in Oregon. Maybe at some point in the future we will organize a family feast and Judy, Jessica, and Murray can feature their culinary delights. Don't you love the way I have not volunteered myself and volunteered others. Of course this is all done in good humor. Of course I would do my part, but it just won't match up to the true talents of the others in the family.

Sid and I were thrilled to hear about Tom's improved health. I am sure he is facing his challenges in recovering but sounds like he is a lot better off than he was. Thanks goodness. Tom you should be commended for what you've endured - physical pain such as what you experienced can't be underestimated.

Diana, one can only hope that by now your computer issues have been resolved. Life certainly is easier when computer problems are not there to serve as daily annoyances, don't you think?

So how is the weather in the Northwest these days? Beautiful as ever I'm sure but how about the weather? We had a nice break from the humidity as soon as we returned from Oregon and thankfully Sid had a more graceful introdcution to Philadelphia. But now our faithful friend has returned and it is super super humid, but not as not. It is quite tropical if you want to look at the bright side of things.

I need to get back to my work, but I wanted to let everyone know that I am thinking of all of you and hope you are all doing well. I will try to write more over the weekend. Perhaps I can write a little more about the Parson's adventures through "normal" like (okay maybe not so normal).

With much love,

Sandra

p.s. can't wait to hear about Tory's travels. KC, be sure to pass them on. Of course I am happy to view them on her blog but don't have the blog address.

Good Grief!

So .... not to capitalize on these new cooking skills Murray is acquiring, but what are people's plans for Thanksgiving?

We can have it at our house if that works for those of you nearby.

Plan on watching the Beaver football game Saturday night. We play Boise State on their blue (yes blue!) field. B.S. is ranked third in the nation, and the Beavs are 25. Gulp!!!!

Tom, we are so pleased with your recovery! Will we be seeing you on Dancing With the Stars?

KC, hooray for the new contract! Also, thanks for sending me the title form for the Rav.

Love,

Dee

Getting Back into the Game

Finally opened Bop's blog. Can't believe how much I've been missing, buried into my own little world for these past weeks.

Tom's surgery on 16 Sept came out beautifully. He had all 17 heavy duty staples (required to keep his big brain from seeping out the hole I think) removed yesterday--still no return of the trigeminal neuralgia pain. He's still on the heavy duty meds--the neurologist will begin weaning him off them gradually. Meanwhile, Tom's more painfree now than he has been in years: knees and neck all reinforced with titanium, nerve stem newly insulated with tephlon sponge, heart beaten into a regular life sustaining rhythm, and holes in the stomach wall all patched so intestines properly stowed again. I expect to see him leaping about like a gazelle shortly.

I start with my new company (Delta Solutions) doing my old job on 29 September (hooray). I can continue being a national treasure for another year.

Murray brought our old laptop that was sitting on the dust heap in the basement for two years back to life--the guy has magic fingers when it comes to PCs. I think your office needs him too Dee. M tells us he's now a student at a cullinary school majoring in pastry (!!) Some good eating times are ahead for the family with Judi doing savory, Murray doing pastry, and Tory coming up with her exotic touches. Meanwhile, we (Tom, Murray, and I) are hosting a visit by Nikole's parents this evening--no Nikole this time: just Pam and Dave and their labradoodle.

Tory's packing tonight for her visit to the Greek isles and Turkey. She promises she'll do her best to maintain her blog: singlewithbath

Sending love to all.

Wednesday

My work computer SEEMS to be working O.K., but I am not completely secure in that knowledge. I am headed to a deposition in a few minutes and then tomorrow I have a morning meeting on one of my new cases.

Whew!

Lots to think about both here on Poverty Rock and in Corvallis. I hope to be able to accomplish something in Corvallis. If nothing else, I can walk with Kay and the dogs and eat food Judi cooks. Maybe I'll even have an opportunity to ride the bike!

Love,

Dee

Tuesday

Well today is Tuesday and I am going to continue the Bopcha tradition of checking my membership number at Bimart. She was lucky and got stuff and so far I haven't but I will keep trying.

I am trying very hard to get rid of stuff as I go through my boxes but boy is it hard. So far have only managed to get rid of a few chicken items (okay 3) and some misc plates and bowls. When I go to CA I am thinking of taking a box of pictures down and trying to give them to the kids.

Crystal will know at her next doctor's visit the sex of her child. I did finish her baby blanket and now need to start one for Jake and then another one for Meredith (I am sure she will be starting a family in the next couple years). I have gotten too lazy to buy my yarn locally so I go online and have found some great prices.

Judi is a no show at the house so far but if I leave, she will show up ready to go to work. I did empty one box that I will take to Vina Moses.

Dee hope that stupid computer is up and running soon. That was the cutest picture ever of the raccoon. The dogs and I did Chip Ross this morning and saw nothing except another hiker. I didn't know they ate grapes.

Kay

Sunday

I ran with Bev this a.m., in between rain storms. Then church, then a nap while the Broncos beat the Seahawks. Grrrrr........

A really busy week is coming up. Two hearings, a deposition, three client meetings and who knows what else? Always a challenge to get dressed up and put on an intelligent face for hours at a time. Whew! I'd better take another nap just to get ready!

Tom is still very much on our minds, although if he's a lot better, then I will risk telling him how mad I am at the Broncos. The weather was too hot and the altitude too high for our Northwest boys.

Noah just told us that one of the Sea Gals (cheerleaders for the Seahawks) is a friend of his from Seattle U!!! Her name is Pia (she is from Guam) and she is, of course, very pretty. I threatened to talk to her about their scanty costumes, but, despite my persuasive arguments, he did not authorize me to talk to her. Ungrateful child!

Love to all,

Diana

No Fun Being a Grown Up

Diana, Diana, I know how you feel about being a grown up. I don't like it either. Every morning I think about how simple our kitties' lives are, and they are so nice becuase of it.

I am sorry to hear that you still have no computer. If you were dismissed from doing your work it would not be bad, but unfortunately you are still expected to get things done. How annoying. Is there an estimated time of computer arrival? Why is it taking so long?

Isn't it just unfathomable how dependent we are on our electronic lives? Without "access" we feel like we can't breathe just about. So can you work from a computer at home? or is the problem even more complicated than that? I hope you get your computer soon.

This morning I was up at 4am writing e-mails. I figured since I could not sleep, might as well do some work, and I did. Then I finally fell asleep again. And when I woke up and got to work, it was the same level of intensity and workload. And so my chaotic day began. Wow this place always has a lot going on.

So Sid talked to Tom the other day and it sounds like he is doing really well and recovering from his surgery quite well. What a relief that must be.

Take care and I've got to get back to work.

Still no computer

I regret having become so dependent on my work email.

I have lots of balls in the air right now, and most of my communication is through email.

Grrrrr..............

I want to just run away and hide in a cave, but it is wet out, I don't know of any handy caves, and if I go home I will just snag a bag of cheetos and hide under the covers for a week.

I hate being a grown up!

I am impressed!

Sandra, imagine having your very own assistant! How cool is that?

Kay and Judi and helpers - I am in awe of how much you have gotten done in a short time. Now, can I have one of those cinnamon rolls? Pretty please?

My computer failed, so now I am in an empty office hoping that our computer guy will come and fix it! He doesn't have a key to the office so I am hoping he'll stop by before tomorrow. I cannot access my email through the network here, and so I am sol until he fixes it. Plus, a guy from the entity that gives us work was supposed to stop by and drop off some documents for my new case. He hasn't shown up either!!! Grrrr........

I am really hungry, and I am thinking hard about the chicken that is left over from last night. If only I had a piece right now!

Watched Noah's rec team play on Monday night. Pure joy to watch them beat the other team by 40 points! We actually got JB to come with us, although she was reluctant. Watching bb is not real high on her list of fun things to do. Gavin made her go to a high school football game on Saturday, so I think she was sportsed out by Monday.

Gotta go now, since my life lacks sufficient interest to hold anyone's attention.

Love,

Dee

Progress

Well Judi, Chelsea, Tiffany and I moved our stuff from storage today. Mack helped us unload the Uhaul - bless his heart. Now Judi and I need to go through our stuff. I think I am going to try and sell some of my glassware at the antique store down the street.

It has started sprinkling and feels good. I am at the farm and Judi is at the CV house and the girls are upstairs taking a nap. Starting work at 8 a.m. was a bit much for them. I made the best cinnamon roles last night. They tasted darn good after we finished unloading and we shared them with Mack.

Poem to Mother

Encounter

Milosz

We were riding through frozen fields in a wagon at dawn.

A red wing rose in the darkness.

And suddenly a hare ran across the road.

One of us pointed to it with his hand.

That was long ago. Today neither of them is alive,

Not the hare, nor the man who made the gesture.

O my love, where are they, where are they going

The flash of a hand, streak of movement, rustle of pebbles.

I ask not out of sorrow, but in wonder.

Very Impressive

Hello All,

That is a very impressive and lovely pastry not to mention that it looks amazingly delicious. I love those types of plums and what a great way to eat them. Jessica, you are quite the chef.

How is everyone???? I hope everyone is feeling okay. I know that Sid and I are thinking of you all. We received a nice card from Judy and Kay. It was really great of you to write and thanks very much.

Sid has received so many cards from colleagues at work, I never knew he was so popular. It's always so amazing when people that you don't have much contact with are thoughtful enough to write and acknowledge your life passage. The thoughtfulness also always serves as a reminder to me to oblige and do the same when possible.

We are thinking of Tom these days. I know his surgery is coming up soon. It will be such a relief to have that behind and get back to normal movement again. Tom, we are sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

I wanted to mention that I have my own work-study student. Remember those days of work study? I don't know if any of you did that, but I remember always thinking how nice it is to get work-study assignments because they were always kind of easy and fun. You would always get a pretty good choice of where you could work. Only problem is that it was never enough money to live on even as a student and it always had to be "complimented" with a yukkie job like catering etc...

This young student is helping me file and organize all the files that are just piled everywhere in my office and my file cabinets. Yes indeed, it has gotten so out of control that I actually don't have organized files in some of my files cabinets, they are just sitting in the cabinets so I don't have to be constantly reminded of the disarray that exists around me. I firmly believe that if you must have a mess, you might as well have a hidden mess. :-)

Please take care everyone and Diana we will be thinking of you indulging in your yummy pie. I guess you don't even need to report how it tastes because we all know it will be scrumptous.

With Love,

Sandra

Arrrrggghhh!

I just wrote and it disappeared.
