Pictures

Wonderful pictures Dee. I want your sweater and Loretta's sweater. Everyone looks so good and can't believe how big Violet is. Rain and wind getting ready to come this way Wednesday and Thursday -- just in time for the Blakney's trip to the farm.

Roy's visit on TGiving

Cousin Roy, Cousin Loretta, Bobbi, and Elizabeth, Andre and Violet stopped by for a quick visit on Thanksgiving. So nice to see everyone!

Three cousins in a row!

Bobbi and I. Bruce was at home with Phyllis ... he's recuperating from a knee injury.

Pretty Violet!

The trick is that you can't have an http prefix. It has to be just the www.

Roy and family came over on TGiving morn. I'll post photos later.

Fabulous Pictures

Wow Dee. The farm is like an incredible rain forest. The pictures are spectacular. The creek is really high. When the logs get put across, will the water come over the fields.

I tried to find Jessica and Gavin's website -- and succeeded sort of: I found picture of a couple that claimed they were Jessica and Gavin but definitely not MY Jessica and Gavin. My internet check turned up nothing. Could you please repost the link?

We spent TG at a friend's place. There was enough food to feed our entire family plus theirs. Lots of delicious leftovers to munch on the next week or so. Sending love to all.

Farm

Great pictures. I have no idea where Griffith Creek is -- maybe that was one of the ones I tried to cross when the dogs and I were lost a few years ago.

My driveway is pretty flooded. I don't think the storm drains were ready for the downpour.

Monday afternoon at the farm

It is a pleasant 52 degrees out, but the rain just won't stop. Here are photos I took on a wet walk late this morning.

A limb fell off one of the apple trees in the old orchard. It was rotted out on the inside. A lone turkey scurried away as I walked to the orchard.

This photo shows how high Rock Creek is.

The rocks at the swimming hole are covered.

As you walk into the woods on the road across the bridge, there are several places where water accumulates. Here's a shot of one of them.

Here's the road on a patch where there is no accumulated water. The long hanging moss (it may not technically be a moss) is a fairly rare growth that has antibiotic qualities.

Here's the spot where a crumbling culvert goes under the road. Unfortunately, the water goes both through the culvert and under it. The road is becoming unstable for heavy loads.

Griffith Creek is moving pretty fast.

Another view of Griffith Creek.

Monday morning at the farm

It is just past 6 am and I managed to struggle out of the nest I had made in the downstairs bed. I lit a fire, put some water on to boil for my Starbuck's single serve coffee packet, and threw on a robe over my industrial strength polka dot pajamas. I may add a stocking hat.

It isn't super cold, luckily.

Today I am going to gird my loins and take a walk around to see how things have fared in all this rain. I will take the Ranger around the woods loop, but will not take it into the fields. I'm here by myself and do not want to get stuck. Kay put the insulating cap on the outside faucet and Judi and Max covered the tractor and its shed. I will check on other possible places to insulate (pump and pump faucet perhaps?).

If there is nothing else that takes priority, I will start work on straightening up the tool room (the one between the woodshed and the laundry room).

Kay saw two deer in the fields during the day yesterday. Maybe I will spot some wildlife as well!

Tomorrow Kay, Judi and I will go see Aunt Martha.

Wednesday home.

Love,

Dee

Dee

The scar isn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. Can you put reading glasses on your nose yet?

Drove up to Marys Peak today in the hopes of seeing deer, coyote or bear and saw absolutely nothing except a van parked almost in the road a short distance from the top. I got out of my car and hollered to see if anybody was around or needed help and got no response so have no idea what happened.

Spending Thanksgiving with Tina and crew. Making it a short trip because I will have to kennel the dogs.

Always Something ....

As if it isn't enough having my beautiful, flawless face torn to shreds, we are having to have a new furnace put in today. Luckily, we earlier realized we were living on borrowed time, so had made arrangements to have it replaced today. Yesterday, however, one day short of the replacement appointment, we started smelling gas, so we had to shut the old furnace down and shiver as the inside temperature dropped, dropped, dropped!

We were lucky. One day of shivers isn't half bad. And, we squeezed the last ounce of usefulness out of the old furnace.

Here's Jessica and Gavin's website - post a comment if you have time:

Love,

Dee, the former goddess - now "scarface"

Not Bad at All

From the size of the bandage, I thought you could end up with a humougous scar---I guess not!!! But...your poor face has taken a beating. I'm thinking of those bruises you had from the fall.

Day 2

You know I can't resist showing you the various horribles that my face seems to attract!

The cut is really long! I thought it would be itty bitty.

Dee

Wow that does look amazing. I see why you are working from home. I would have said auto accident. Glad they were able to remove all of the cancer. I am assuming they numbed your face to the bone OR did they put you out?

YahooOOOO Dee!!

...and it's amazing how lovely you look even with a honking big bandage on your face. What a gorgeous sister I have.

Diana's basal cell surgery

23 stitches later, I am cancer free!

I underestimated how extensive my bandage was going to be, however, and I have to keep it on for 48 hours! Like Kay, I am reluctant to appear in public at the moment.

Unlike Kay, however, I will reveal myself to my family so that they will feel appropriately sorry for me.

Eyes

Sid that is wonderful news on the old eyeball. Hope you get the same results with the second eye.

I don't usually feel old but today I do. I went to the denturist for the final reline on my bottom dentures and after they did the mold, he came back in and said I'll see you back at 11:30. Do you know what that meant, I had to go out in public and drive home with no bottom teeth. Do you know how horrible that was. I must admit I did the drive from the denture place on Kings Blvd to the inside of my trailer in record time. I cannot believe I had to face the world without all my teeth -- now that made me feel really, really old.

So glad the storm didn't wipe you out. I thought I heard there was another storm coming in but not sure where or when.

Went out to the farm yesterday and drank in the colors. Didn't see any turkeys or deer.

Once my toothys are all back in my head, I will walk the dogs.

One of the people I have seen at the park walking her hunting dogs for the last few years recently showed up with only one. The other dog has developed heart problems and there is nothing they can do so she just trys to walk it around the yard and keep it calm. She mentioned that a few years ago one of her dogs was running at the park and died of a heart attack. Like all animal people she is really attached to her dogs. I thought of KC and Tom when I heard of the heart problem. I told her about my sister and her husband and all their Borzois and how they knew each and everyone on a personal level.
