Birthdays

What a lovely looking party for Bill and Kay!! I hope you all know I was there in spirit!!!! I'm keeping Kay's birthday present by my side during her birthday--that way she'll know it is safe and sound in MY hands rather than those of the mailman. (Sorry Kay -- miscalculated so it'll be late). BTW, I'm glad you introduced Max. I was wondering who that moustashed stranger was--and I agree, he clearly looks concerned about potential for colateral damage from the huffing and puffing going on along side him!! Sending love. KC

Farm in January

Judi threw a joint birthday party for Kay and Bill. Max is clearly concerned about their ability to blow out the candles!

The creek is low at the moment.

The creek is low and clear.

Noah

Way to go Noah. I am so glad that you stopped and helped this poor woman and she is really, really lucky that you came along. Chances are he would have come after her and finished the job if you hadn't rescued her. Good going.

Hey family look at that picture and tell me it isn't a Delk. Actually Dee the picture turned out better than I would have thought.

Beautiful pictures of the wedding site in the snow. Looking forward to seeing our girl tie the knot. Next one up -- my guess is Tory.

Mere is still hooked up to an IV but every day is one more closer to the finish line.

Cleaned out closets yesterday and taking a ton of throw pillows to Goodwill. I have a thing for slip covers, throw rugs and throw pillows. Do not ask me why but if I don't get rid of some of them soon, you will see me on Hoarders.

Pretty cold here today (as everywhere). Put the dogs in their sweaters for yesterday's walk and might do the same today if it every warms up a tad. A former brother-in-law (Kenny Parker) recently bought a house in Bartow, Florida and if this cold keeps up, I might just pay him a visit. Actually he has back to back company -- Randy and Marcella are there now and then Randy's sister Charlotte and her husband will follow. Plus, who can afford the gas.

May is coming, May is coming, May is coming. Looking forward to the wedding and also seeing all my wonderful sibs.

Noah - a Hero!

Noah was driving home from Portland Friday after attending a professional bb game with some friends. It was about 2:30 in the morning when he finally exited on Island Crest Way, headed south to our house.

As he headed south on the deserted street, he saw a woman standing in the middle of the road. Her face was covered in blood. Noah pulled over, spoke to her, called an ambulance, the police and drove her to the North End QFC.

I'm so proud of my sweet boy!

Here's the news report:

A man who barricaded himself in a home near Mercer Island High School early Friday morning is now in police custody after officials locked-down several schools in the area.

Mercer Island Police Cmdr. Leslie Burns said officers responded to reports of domestic violence inside a home on the 4300 block of 87th Ave. SE at approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday, and found a woman who had been assaulted by her 36-year-old boyfriend.

The injured woman was transported to Evergreen Hospital, but the boyfriend was uncooperative and refused to emerge from the house and "barricaded himself inside". Police were unable to determine if the man was armed and remained outside the home until a hostage negotiator could arrive.

The hostage negotiator spoke with the boyfriend for nearly 2 hours and was able to talk him in to surrendering. The man then exited the home and was taken into custody without incident at 9 a.m.

Cmdr. Burns confirmed that no weapons were involved in the incident.

MIHS and a handful of other schools, including St. Monica Parish School, Emmanuel Day School preschool and others in the vicinity were placed in a "modified lockdown" as a precaution until the man could be arrested. They returned to normal operation when the suspect was taken into custody.

Mercer Island police say investigators will be completing the investigation and will file charges as appropriate.

Suncadia Photos

Jessica and Gavin spent Saturday night at Suncadia. Here are a couple of photos.

This is the view from their room at the Lodge. The wedding will be at the Inn - apparently somewhere behind the Lodge.

See the river?
