Hi Mom & Tom & Tory,
I'm in Quito! Long, long flight, and uneventful. Airport was crazy, but managed to get a taxi without being ripped off - very happy about that. Hostal is nice and clean but people are friendly, at least by the tone of their voices cause they speak about as much English as I do Spanish. At a Juan Valdez coffee shop now sipping espresso and breathing bus fumes. Off to explore!

Murray on a BIG CLIMB!!!! News from KC
Murray has arrived safely in Quito. He'll be climbing a small volcano or two in an attempt to hasten acclimation to the altitude before attempting Cotopaxi (19K feet) next Thursday. He has hired a personal guide-evidently after so many deaths on Cotopaxi, the Ecuadoran government imposed the requirement. Hallelujah as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't Bopcha be delighted that someone is following her footsteps (and yours)-I mean as far as going to Ecuador?
