From Kay

The other day I was having coffee with Terry and we looked out her deck and saw a poor little orphan looking dog walking down the street. I went out to see if I could catch but wasn't able. I knocked on one of the trailers and asked them if they knew who owned the dog and he said it belonged to the single wide next to him but wasn't sure the owner was home because an ambulance had been there a couple of days earlier. I went over to the trailer and the door was open with a pill bottle on the ground and it looked like stuff on the floor. I knocked on the door but got no response. In the meantime, as I was walking away the dog walked up the steps and stood on the porch. I called Ivan and he went down to check. Don't know if the trailer was ransacked and or the women had a hearing problem or was dead. Haven't talked to Ivan to find out but haven't seen the dog lately. I wasn't about to enter the trailer and find a dead body. Who says life in the hood is boring.

Farm on March 18, 2013

I took the Ranger around the woods loop. No trees were blocking and the sun was shining. Here's the house from the woods loop.

The creek is low. This is a view from the bridge.

I was able to get up the trail along Rock Creek all the way to where it runs into Griffith Creek. I scared myself half to death when the Ranger's roll bar caught on this snag and spun the Ranger about 1/3 of the way around!

The field across the creek.

The swimmin' hole.

More of the swimmin' hole.

What a Busy Family

Wow, so much excitement. Everyone has so much going on, and it is all wonderful positive and exciting. I mean weddings, engagements, career moves, on and on.

The pictures of the engagement party are wonderful. Everyone looks great. There was mention of Noah looking like Diana. I can't help but notice Jessica's resemblance to Diana; mother and daughter similarities all over their beautiful faces.

And the new "bride to be" looks radiant. I think it is true that love does create a glow - that certainly seems to be the case with Tory. Her joy is showing through.

I bet Noah is enjoying Portland - it would be interesting to hear how he views the city in comparison to Seattle. What do you think everyone, will Noah become an Oregonian and settle in Portland?? It is all possible I guess. No matter how long he ends up staying, it sounds like a great growth opportunity with Nike.

Meanwhile, I don't know if I mentioned this but my friends Nancy and Rob moved to Greece, on the island of San Torini. I know that Judy and Diana met them. They came over to visit Bopcha. Nancy, being a certified massage therapist, gave Bopcha a massage which I know she really enjoyed and cherished. Rob and Nancy are close friends from Philadelphia. However, Philly is the last place on earth where they will ever spend more than a week. They settled in Oregon for many years and assumed they had finally found a place they could call "home." But I guess a certain restlessness or the never-ending search for "something"lead them to glide away and settle - at least temporarily - toward the Mediterranean. We still e-mail each other regularly and I get to hear about their lives in Greece. Nancy actually said that some of the coast line in Greece is beautiful but yet not as exquisite as Oregon. She still finds Oregon prettier in many ways. That was lovely to hear.

So Diana, you sound like you are going to be very busy over the next week at the Farm. It doesn't sound like it will be much of a rest. Hope you find some time to relax and slow down the pace a bit. I am sure you have been on accelerated speed with your daughter's wedding coming up. Try to rest up, even with everything going on.

I personally am not very good at slowing down and getting the needed rest etc.... So for the past four days, I have been home bound with the flu. We'll my immune system showed me that it is not going to allow me to just go and go. I am feeling much better than I was several days ago, in which all I could do is sleep. Sid got me quite the supply and variety of cough drops. It is so funny. He must think I am going to have this cough forever.

Hope everyone is well.

Sending everyone love,

Sandra

Headed to the farm

I will be heading to the farm Sunday (tomorrow). On my way I will visit Noah, spend the night in Portland with my Camp Easter Seal friend Reba, and visit the Nike campus in Beaverton on Monday. I'll get to the farm Monday afternoon. Bill will take the train down on Friday and we will leave the farm for Mercer Island on that following Sunday, a week from today.

I'm hoping to:

mow

weed whack

clear the woods loop trail, and the creek trail across the bridge, as needed

find the dead mouse that is stinking up the kitchen

change the vehicle registrations to Shiver River

change the insurance to Shiver River

change utilities to Shiver River

pick up the Shiver River tax statement

visit Aunt Martha

All is well here. The wedding invites were mailed yesterday, they should arrive soon.

Love,

Dee

I so enjoyed seeing pictures of the engagement party and Noah's move. Makes it all seem so much more real. Looks like everyone was having fun at the engagement party. Noah's place looks really comfortable.

Tory and Robert's engagement party - part III

Brides-to-be get lots of goodies, Tory! Enjoy.

The Martha Steware wedding planner should get well-used.

FYI - Noah got a haircut after admiring Robert's shaved head.

Nobody ever accused me of being a good photographer! Sorry, Murray.

Tory's engagement party - part 2

The Thompson twins, Robert and Nikole. Tory's dress is one Nikole made her buy while they were in China. Pure Chinese silk. It was lovely, as you can see.

Sacajawea and Gavin.

The boys!

More of the boys.

Tory and Robert's engagement party - part I

KC - the couch you see in Noah's new apt. IS the one from our family room!

Vera, Robert's mother, has the black and white patterned top. She is a delight. Across from her is Robert's sister Jennifer and her husband.

Sorry, Tory. I took out the red eyes and made your face grey. Gulp. And you looked so beautiful that night!

Noah and his Aunt Judi like to coordinate their outfits.

Jessica and Tory notice that they have the same setting in their engagement rings, while Bill asks Nikole whether she was scared when Murray was poised on the top of the world!

Parties and Moves

I'll bet the engagement party was fabulous fun. I seriously toyed with the idea of a surprise attendance, but couldn't pull it off from work. Sure would have been fun if I could have. Envy you all for meeting Robert's family. Wasn't Tory's sapphire beautiful though?

Noah looks so much like you Dee, it's amazing. No one could mistake whose kid he is!! The couch looks so much like the one in your family room Dee.

Hugs to all with love from Colorado.

Noah and Portland

Noah and his moving truck.

Noah's building. He is on the 3rd floor in the corner, where the two legs meet.

Noah's living room. Yes, that is a giant cardboard shoe in the window!

Noah's kitchen. His bedroom door is to the left of the fridge.

Engagement Party

We are so excited about Tory and Robert! We are throwing a small engagement party at a Tom Douglas Pizza place called Serious Pie. We have a private room called The Kitchen Table and it will be champagne and pizza - a seriously wonderful combo. We will be joined by Robert's mother and one of his sibs and his/her spouse. Should be a blast! It will be Wednesday night the 6th of March. We wanted to have it quickly so that Noah could come. He moves to Portland and starts his new job on the 11th of March.
