Diagnosis

Noah has non group A strep. It is a type that does not cause rhumantic fever (spl.). He also may have mono but they aren't sure. His monocytes are elevated, but his white blood count is not as high as they would expect with mono. He may have it, however, as the test sometimes will not come back positive in the early days of sickness.

Regardless of the diagnosis, my poor boy is really suffering. His lips are swollen and covered with open sores, his throat and tongue are swollen and blistered. He was hurting so much that we called our doc last night (she was on call) and she prescribed a steroid to reduce the swelling, and something called "magic mouthwash." Its purpose is to soothe the pain of the open sores.

Enough of that! We are just hoping he didn't infect anyone.

Love,

Dee
