Hello family!
Today it is sunny and hot, hot, hot! I have taken a loads of photos, and in every one I am getting progressively red-faced and sweaty.
Most of the pics I took were at the Parthenon, documenting my ascent up a serious number of stairs to achieve the summit. The view was amazing, with clear skies and uninterrupted vistas-- excepting the waves upon waves of tourists of all nationality. I blended right in
I also wandered through the brand new Acropolis Museum, which was quite spectacular. According to the story, when they began construction, they uncovered the ruins of some ancient settlement (no huge surprise). Construction came to an immediate halt. But with a bit of re-design, construction was resumed and the museum was built on pillars over the site; there are windows in the floor so you can watch the archaeologists dig below. But today was Sunday so it was their day off
Tomorrow morning I have an o-dark-early flight to the island of Santorini. Until then, I bid you Kalismera (greek for good afternoon)!
