So Much Fun News

I don't get to see the blog all that often, and then when I do, I'm overwhelmed with all the activities that everyone's doing. Gavin's so cute--and he's such a sweetie to meet Jessica at the finish of her trek. Sixty miles is a l o n g way. I think that the USAF would have loved to have both of them (tee hee). I liked reading the note from Noah's girlfriend--the VB team sounds like LOTS of fun.

I'm driving home tomorrow. We are coursing three days at a field near the Zoiboyz. It's the same location and event where Ambassador broke his leg. We're going to bring him, just so people can see that a dog can be happy on three legs. I don't think they'll let him run a course, but he could no question. He's really fit and strong, despite the cancer.

The days are getting cool, all of a sudden. I haven't turned on the heat yet but I did bother to buy myself an electric blanket. Bop convinced me it's a worthy purchase. My little house is pretty cozy and hasn't proved to be too drafty. Of course, here in Nebraska there hasn't been much wind.

Tory wrote to say she accidently started to eat someone else's lunch at work--she was in a hurry and they packed their lasagna in the same type of container she packed her's in. She realized it 3 bites in. I laughed out loud; made my colleagues raise their eyebrows. We have the same risk where I work--one fridge and all kinds of identical containers.

Lots of love to all (those button quail really sound interesting Joe!! and good luck keeping Sid on the exercise trail Sandra!!!)

Love, KC

Congratulations to Jessica and Amy

Sixty miles is an amazing accomplishment.

Mother Hen is taking the babies for tours in back of the chicken house. They will be grown up before we know it!

The weather is warm and dry, warm like 90° today.

The prunes are ripe on the tree now. I have been picking them. I took Mrs. Hardie some, and I will take Aunt Martha some too. And Judi and I eat them.

Diana, Bill, and Kay are coming down this coming weekend. Maybe we can get the wood in the woodshed!

Love, Bopcha

Jessica Returns!

After 3 days and 60 miles, Gavin and Dolan greet Jessica and Amy back to Seattle.

Noah's Girlfriend writes the Blog for the Volleyball Team

Hey Redhawk fans. My name is Haley Bury and I’m a junior outside hitter. I came to Seattle University from Bethel High School in Spanaway, Washington.

Now, our 2007 season is in full swing! We just finished our two (and sometimes three) a days and are getting ready to leave for our first tournament in Sonoma, California. Everyone had a blast the first two weeks and it is hard to believe the preseason is almost over.

During the preseason we spend a lot of time getting to know each other. The first two weeks had a lot to do with figuring out the dynamics of our new family. This year we have nine returning players and six newcomers. It is a great group of girls and we are coming together really well.

Throughout the first two weeks, the seniors, junior, sophomore and freshman each had a night where they had to plan a bonding activity. On those nights we would go to dinner as a team and then head over to someone’s house, apartment, or to the dorms. The group of girls planning it would provide a desert and an activity for the group. My favorite was the junior night we had at my house. We all ate Oreos and milk and talked about some of our most embarrassing moments. It was a great way to get to know each off the court as well as share more than a few laughs together.

This season we are also adding a new focus to our team. We are incorporating Seattle University’s mission statement and values into our team. We broke the mission down and discussed what it meant for our program, what it meant for us as student-athletes, and how it connected to what we were doing. With each value we discussed it in depth and had several reading assignments. The values are: care, academic excellence, diversity, faith, justice, and leadership. A few times it almost felt like school had started but the readings really got us focused and fired up to play.

The first two weeks have flown by and we are so excited for our first tournament. Our practices are intense. It is such a positive environment but we push each other hard. The 15 of us and all the coaches have been working tirelessly and we can’t wait to show everyone just what the Seattle University Redhawks are made of!

Noah home; Jessica walking.

Noah arrived home from Wisc. and Mich. this morning at 2 a.m. He said the humidity in Michigan was "unbearable." He's a west coast kid for sure. Then Bill and I woke up at 4 a.m. and drove Amy and Jessica to the start of their 60 mile, 3 day walk for breast cancer research.

Yawn!!!!!

Eleven chix

The headlines speak for them selves. Eleven. One is named: Desert Flower. KC's chicken. Do any of you want to name a chicken and have us gentle it for you?

Lovse, Bopcha

Keep it up, Sid

Maybe I'll be able to join Sid around the loop if I get tough enough. Boy, talk about physical fitness endeavors! I'm delighted with the news.

Sandra, do you have some fitness measurements you could related to us as they happen?

Love, Bopcha

Baby ------- yes, baby chix

Judi said this morning there were SEVEN baby chix hatched out and maybe more coming as the hen is still setting. All this because the hen had surrepticiously hidden her nest from Sid's eyes in the woodshed.

I saw the Hildebrandts today. Emery said to tell Sid hello. Hello, Sid.

KC said Arimas won Best Dog in the dog show. There were 15 dogs competing.

Come to thinkof it, the hen had surrepticiously hidden her nest in the woodshed from

Sid's eyes.

Love, Bopcha

Joe, Button quail must be REALLY little.

Fabulous Houses

Sid and Bill get to share the award for soreness.

We went on a 7 mile loop trail on Saturday that was advertised as "moderate." HA! It was moderate SOME of the time, and DIFFICULT for the rest. Anyway, we made it through without calling in a helicopter. I was gasping for breath more than anyone (altitude?), but Bill ended up being way more sore.

Yesterday we cruised around Mercer Island on a friend's boat. The weather was perfect and it was lots of fun looking at the fabulous lakefront homes. A couple of them have recently been listed at somewhere between 35 and 40 million. We also saw Paul Allen's complex. I'm sure its value exceeds the limits of my imagination.

Well, it's back to work. Oh, one more thing, Bill and I went to see "Resurrecting the Champ" and really liked it.

Love,

Dee

Labor Day Greetings

Hello All,

Just finished work on Labor Day. I see I've missed quite alot since August. Sid, since you are going to OR. in Dec. we will need to rearrange Sausage making, maybe Black Friday or else risk the dead of winter. I'll be down in Philly later tonight and if we can make it tomorrow to meet you, I'll call your office.

Bopcha the button quail are so funny to have, They crow at sunrise everyday but are only a little bigger than a chicken egg. I keep telling Colleen she needs a farm so they don't have to live on the bottom of an aquarium, that is her dream she told me. We have 5 right now a few more and we'll have appetizers.

Well not much else to say today. We will be leaving the mountains in about an hour to go to my brothers labor day picnic I hope my ex dog Daisy will be there.

Best to all

Joe

Exercising Sid

Well I can finally report that after much coersion, Sid has exercised three days consecutive days. I have finally convinced Sid to go to the Penn gym after work. He has been a real trooper about it and it going along with the plan. By Christmas (when he visits) I'm sure he will be in tip top shape :-)

He tells me I am torturing him because he is so sore. I have to try to convince him that my efforts are for his sake. Today we went to Valley Forge Park and cycled all around the Park and viewed the various remains and legacies of George Washington and the Revolution. Sid had never been there before.

I hope everyone is well and I will give you a progress report on Sid's new exercise routine.

Love,

Sandra

Sid

Four a.m. this morning

Yes, I got up and went outside at four a.m. this morning. I did see two shooting stars. It was so bright outside, but still the shooting stars were much brighter. I guess I could have stayed outside longer, but I think I saw what there was to see! I didn't see any green stars shooting across and also I couldn't locate the big dipper for sure, but I did see Orion. You must realize that here in town, the roof of my house, and the neighbors trees cut off a lot of the view.

Today I had my lawn mower man mow the yard at the Gleaners. It looks so much better now. Judi is planting some marigolds in the corner of the yard. I chased a dog off that wanted to squat in the lawn.

I'm really hard up for news items if I have to relate such activities, so I will close until I think of something better. Like "Pandas eat, shoots, and leave!' OR is it A panda will eat, shoot, and leaves. Very funny, anyway.

Love, Bopcha
