Wednesday

It was so great to hear from you, Sandra and Mother! I am glad that Washington isn't the only state getting drenched.

Bill and Jess are off today and are supposed to be working on the garage. I am so glad to be at work!

Dee

The patient

Hello All,

It's so great to hear about everyone's various adventures. I feel bad that I have not been very good about writing. There certainly hasn't been a shortage of things to write about, but I been so busy with the adventures that I have not had time to write about them.

We are on our 7th day of rain. Right now it is pouring down relentlessly. Quite fitting has been all the time I have spent in the hospital for the past six days or so. While Sid is not a patient in the hospital right now, of which we are eternally greatful, I actually had to go to the hospital with my mother today. She had an outpatient surgery to remove the excess drooping skin along her eyelids. The surgery went very well and righ now she just looks like a Panda Bear, which I told her. Of course she looks really cute as a Panda Bear. But seriously, even with all the bruising around the eyes, they are much more open and wider. She is going to look quite nice with more open eyes, not to mention more comfortable without the drooping skin. Of course, now my sister and I want to do the surgery. We think the puffy, excess skin around the eyes runs in the family. Problem is that if she or I do it, we will not have it covered by insurance. Insurance doesn't cover vanity :-(

So in sum, today I spent time in the Hospital. Spending too much time in a hospital can certainly evoke sadness and restlessness. I am so glad Sid is out and so is my mother of course. Sid really gave me a scare and I think I was "appropriately terrified." I was so happy when they discovered exactly what it was. I also felt happy for him that he no longer had to speculate what was going on. He was a really good trooper and of course was really nice to all the Hospital staff. He was surely the nicest patient, knowing Sid.

Anyway, I think Sid is attempting to go back to a normal routine of work and eating. But I think he may have to take it a little slower for a few more days.

And yes indeed, these are interesting times at work right now. Sometimes I feel like I am going to go out of my mind with all the chaos and ocrazy behaving employees. Sometimes, I think the high level of intensity distracts me from realizing how I really feel about it.

Anyway, I hear that Judy may be passing through here very soon. That would be fun. I have not seen her in Philly for several years. Sid and I will be out there before you know it. Hope to see you all at that time.

Sorry this is such a scatterd sounding message. I am so tired from spending time on my hospital excursions and work. But I did want to get something written to everyone to let you know everything is okay and I am thinking of all of you.

I hope to talk to you soon.

Rain

Yes, we had LOTS of rain over the weekend, nice warm gentle rain!

from Corvallis

It was good to hear from you, Diana. Sid and I have been talking to each other on SKYPE while he is home. Thank goodness for communications. I assume KC and Tom have made it to Colorado Springs yesterday, and hopefully Tori is back home, and Kay heard from Judi who is on her way to Texas.

Today, Karen, the blue butterfly specialist, and Eveliina K., a person of interest from Finland (?) walked across the bridge in search of nectar for the subject butterfly. They didn't find any, it is still to early in the Spring, but Eveliina K. now knows where to look. Kay went along. I visited with the chickens, which reminds me, I have a dozen eggs in my car I retrieved from the chicken house. They were sort of messed up and I took them so I could wash them.

Kay and I are going to a forestry meeting this next Tuesday. Kay likes to get out and meet people. Tomorrow is REPAK.

I am such a busy person.

Love to all. Bopcha

Rain, rain and more rain

My goodness but it rained last night. And rained and rained and rained.

Noah has been having some left wrist pain since he fell on it last September. Of course, since he is a big time college student, he didn't talk to his parents about it until recently. He finally went to the doctor, got x-rays, and was diagnosed as having a navicular fracture (bone near the thumb) that is either unhealed or it healed wrong. Now he has to go to a hand specialist to see what can be done.

Sid, I hope you are feeling stronger today.

Had my 6 month check up on my eyeballs yesterday (macular hole surgeon). They (my eyes) are doing very well. I tested at 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left. I still have a grey spot in my left eye that blocks vision, but it is easy to work around.

Love to all,

Dee

Sid home from hospital on Friday

I spoke to Sid this a.m. He is staying at home for another couple of days. He is weak, but anxious to get back to work. He is on antibiotics and some sort of expensive anti acid drug.

We got a fair amount of sorting through garage items this weekend. Never enough, but after awhile it gets pretty tiresome to make decision after decision after decision. We also planted a few tomato plants, a few pepper plants and a couple of cucumber plants.

Love,

Dee

Friday and Sid is making progress

I called Sid this morning.

He is still in the hospital, getting a 72 hour dose of antibiotics by IV. The 72 hours is up tonight, so he is not sure when he gets released. He is hopeful that it is tonight.

He got some broth. Yummmmmm! I thought about him when I ate bacon and eggs this morning!

We are getting a trash bin (a 14 foot by 8 foot container) delivered today. We are going to tackle the garage this weekend. Fun to be had by all!

Poor Sandra. Not an easy time to be in Human Resources. Layoffs are tough work and painful for everybody involved.

Hope to hear some great race results from Oklahoma.

Saw Noah yesterday. He is still tall and cute. Saw Jessica also - she was fashionably dressed with shiny leggings, a long top and a belt.

Bill is wearing an orange shirt today in celebration of Oregon State's great baseball victory over the Ducks last weekend (a grand slam homer did the job!).

Love to all,

Diana

Telephones

Are they not useful? It has been great keeping in touch with family and friends.

Tiffany, Kay's granddaughter, came to visit with Kay. They will go to the coast tomorrow.

I work for the Gleaners tomorrow here in town at our giveaway site.

KC leaves tomorrow morning for Texas, and will meet up with Tory and Tom and certain Borzois. Then to Oklahoma for races.

Diana, the description of Sid's illness, made me think I might have SOMETHING. Just kidding!
