Trip 35
Start Time: 8:30 AM
Weather: Rainy
Temperature: 43°
Trail Surface: Saturated
Trail Time (Up/Down/Total): 1:55/0:45/2:40
It was a typical early-spring day for the western slopes of the Cascades:
mild and wet. Despite the rain, there was an abundance of hikers. I opted
for shorts and short sleeves, and was quite comfortable. There was no
wind at the summit.
Some snow remains, but it’s really a non-issue at this point. The trail has
soaked up about all of the water it can hold, though.
I was passed on the way up, at what I refer to as the “second bench,†by
Murray. This was our first meeting, but I hope to run into him again on
the trail. Actually, I did see him again, as I was nearing the summit and he
was heading down. His speed was impressive. (If you’re reading this,
Murray, I salute you!)
