Iceland Itinerary

Good morning family!

I'm so aggravated that my dates for Iceland coincided with the Zois events in Richland! It sounds like you guys are going to have a ball. Please take loads of pics so I can see what I missed.

And of course, I will be sure to take lots of pics of Iceland. We’ll be driving on Route 1, the “Ring Road” highway that goes around the circumference of Iceland. Total distance is only 830 miles. We’ve heard Iceland is extremely expensive, and the towns are small, so we’re staying in a mix of hotels, hostels, and camping. No, we will not be eating whale meat or puffin, though they are both considered national delicacies. Ewwww! According to the guidebooks, the best place for a cheap meal is in gas station delis, so I expect we will be eating a lot of Icelandic 7-11 pizza-by-the-slice and hot dogs. Yummy.

Here's our itinerary.

Thu 17-May-12 Depart Seattle to Reykjavik 4:30 pm Iceland Air flight 680

May 18-19 Friday & Saturday nights in Reykjavik: Fosshotel Lind

May 20 Sunday camping in / near Snaefellsnes Peninsula (probably in Olafsvik or Grundarfjörður)

May 21 Monday sleep in Akureyri at Akureyri Backpackers Hostel

May 22 Tuesday camping in or near Lake Mývatn / Goðafoss Falls

May 23 Wednesday sleep in a guesthouse in Egilsstaðir (tentative)

May 24 Thursday sleep in a guesthouse near Vík (tentative)

Fri 25-May-12 Depart Reykjavik to Seattle 5:00 pm Iceland Air flight 681

Love Tory
