The men’s basketball exhibition game between Seattle University and the University of Kentucky set for Saturday, Nov. 3, at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Ky., will be televised on a tape delay basis by Fox Sports Northwest, announced earlier this week by officials from the sports network.
Due to prior commitments with Pac-10 football, Fox Sports Northwest will be unable to show the game live on Saturday, Nov. 3. The network has agreed to show the contest on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. It is believed to be the first time the Seattle University basketball team has been on a major television network since at least 1980, when the school dropped out of NCAA Division I.
The exhibition game, set up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1958 NCAA title game between the two schools, will start at 8 p.m. local time (5 p.m. Seattle time) on Saturday, Nov. 3, and will be shown live on Fox Sports Net South as well as the Big Blue Sports Network.
Both teams are coming off 20-win seasons and appearances in their respective NCAA tournaments. Seattle University finished the 2006-07 season with a 20-9 record and defeated Cal Poly Pomona at the Division II West Regional for the school’s first NCAA Tournament victory in 43 years. Kentucky earned a 22-12 record last season, defeating Villanova in the first round of the Division I NCAA Tournament before losing to Kansas in the second round.
The Seattle University men’s basketball team will open practice on October 15 and prepare for the game in Kentucky by facing the Washington Athletic Club men’s team in an exhibition game on Saturday, Oct. 27, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Connolly Center.
