Yeah, It's Saturday

It's so nice to just be sitting here writing on the blog rather than going to work. Of course with all the work I have, I should probably be at work. But I choose to just be behind with all my work :-(

Diana, I meant to respond to your message about Haley, but everything else seemed to get in the way. I was going to say that with Noah and Haley being so young it (the break up) definitely seems like something that is meant to be. If they do end up together later - which could still happen - they will probably feel much more assured that they are making the right decision. But then of course, what do I know, I am not exactly the expert on relationships. But I have to say after seeing Noah all grown up this summer, I have to say he is a gentleman. He is so cordial and quite friendly. But of course with Bill and Diana being his parents, what else could one expect.

Oh by the way, Alex - since coming to Oregon this summer - has been very well behaved with "storm" (their dog). He is really sweet with Storm now and doesn't play with him like he is a stuffed animal. Who knows exactly what it can be attributed to but it seems that the transition seemed to be in connection with being in the gentle State of Oregon.

Every day I am reminded that Oregon is a gentler place. Don't know if you experience the same things out West, but I am forever hearing about how Sarah Palin is stupid. I hear people out here saying that she is from a state that is backwards and "crooked." Yes, someone actually said that to me. I am thinking that here we are living in a city that is known for its corruption by city officials, and people get killed or beaten just riding the subway. How can anyone who lives in Philadelphia possibly measures or criticize other states' level of civility? And in my attempts to just be polite, I remain quiet. I am a good Italian Catholic girl - what can I say. But I think I need to start taking lessons from Sid and learn to argue with everyone about politics. Although I don't think I have the disposition to do it. It takes way too much mental energy to be that argumentive.

Well Bopcha, I wanted to let you know that Nina is still just as committed to writing to you. She even told me that she is writing you a letter on her favorite fairy notecard. She has a box of fairy notecards and she selected her favorite one just for you. But like a good pre- teenage girl, she is spacey and doesn't get around to getting things done. You know how it is she is supposed to do her homework and chores etc....but actually getting it done is a different story.

She does think of you often and asks about you. She wants to tell you about her horseback riding lessons. She is quite excited about them.

Well, I hope you are all doing well and surviving the daily grind. I survive the daily grind by having a constant flow of obsurd almost unbelievable events happen at work. I wish I could recount some of them on this blog, but I hesitate because of the confidentiality factor in my job. One thing that did happen the other day that is not very confidential is we had to argue with one of our donors the other day because he and his wife wanted to know where they can land their helicopter at the Vet School. They thought we had a helipad on our roof. We said our roof is barely staying up as it is. They were appalled that we could not accomodate their landing. Then they wanted us to make arrangements to land at Univ. of Penn hospital which has an extensive accomodation for Emergency helicopter landings. They insisted that we make arrangements with the hospital. We had to explain that it is reserved for MEDICAL emergencies. That was a major debate. We explained that we would not even allow the US President to land there, because we can't risk impeding with proper handling of a medical emergency. They accepted it but I think still were not convinced we were doing the right thing.

Just goes to show you everyone's reality is different.

I will have to consult with Judy soon about growing basil plants inside. If anyone can keep plants alive, Judy can.

Goodbye for now.

Love,

Sandra

Take good care and I will talk to you soon.
