Joe, I meant to comment earlier on your letter referring to your Jack Russel dog. I was in Albany and was introduced to Jack Russell. I asked him if he was related (not to the dog but to the person who originated the name!). He said "No". I think often of Little Joe and hope and wish that his tour in Iraq is enlightening and will give him something to brag about when he returns.

Judi and I took the Ranger into the woods yesterday and Judi found some more Chanterelles, or mushrooms in other words.

Sid, I have been receiving b'day presents for you. We can have a real celebration with so many events happening so close together. Yippeee.

Gee, that was sure a cute picture of Nina and brother.

We had some real windy weather. It makes one aware of the fresh air coming in under the doors and windows, but you know it isn't very cold.

Until we meet again, SOON. Bopcha

Hopefully (peek-a-boo) this will solve the mysterious jumping lines.

(Peek-a-boo)

a line should only skip when you come to the end of the page or you hit the "enter" key

like this.

one

two (peek-a-boo)

three.

If you want to start typing somewhere else or move back up, just move the mouse pointer to the spot you want to go and click it. The arrow turns into what looks like a capital "I" when it is over the note pad area, otherwise its looks like an arrow. I will move back to the top and put peek-a-boo in parenthesis like this (peek-a-boo)

as you see I was able to "peek-a-boo" in various locations. If you want to close a gap or remove it just move the pointer ("I") to the empty spot click then hit the delete button.

I hope that helps

Love Sid

Sunday

Today I took some sunflower seeds to the chickens. Did I tell you I found a pile of feathers the other day. I guess some predator had a good meal.

Well, I see I have done it again. What makes the lines jump down. I can't get them back where they belong.

This morning I talked to Johnny Watkins. He is very interesting and knows a lot about the neighborhood. Townsends have sold their place. The asking price was $450K. I imagine he sold his machinery along with it.

I'm going to fill a couple of gasoline cans with gasoline, then perhaps I'll drive out to the farm again. It is so interesting. I head a couple of rifle shots in the woods above McGees. I guess someone got their deer.

Love, Bopcha

S

andra, I'm not sure, but I think Fred is a hen and Ginger is a rooster!!! Wouldn't that jar you?

Review

I spent my hour at the Library computer room looking at all the e-mails stored and now I have just 8 minutes left. I enjoyed reading Joe's comments and Sandra's comments. The weather was really foggy when I came in, but hopefully it will be sunny now. I bought a quart of apple cider at the farmers market. Six minutes left. I guess I better sign off while I can still sen

Bopcha

d my love to you all.

Bong Number One

Bong number one they were off at a run like a warren of rabbits upset by a gun.

Bong number two they were all in a stew, flinging cap after tunic and hose after shoe.

Bong number three they were bare to the knee, undoing the doings as fast as could be.

Bong number four they were stripped to the core, putting on nightshirts the wrong side before.

Bong number five they were looking alive, bizzing and buzzing like bees in a hive.

Bong number six they all gave themselves kicks, tripping over the rushes to put out the wicks.

Bong number seven from Durham to Devon they slipped a quick prayer for revenge up to Heaven.

Bong number eight it was fatal to wait: in the deuce of a state I regret to relate they jumped Bong into bed like a bull at a gate.

Ouch!!!!

Dear Sandra---what a bite!! Thank you, for sharing the picture with us. Wow, I can see where that would be really unnerving.

Instead of trying to imagine the races of the dogs, Judi and I took the Ranger up in the woods to look for mushrooms. Talk about beginner's luck. I stepped off the train and found two beautiful Chanterelles. They had bright orange caps and one was almost 3 inches across. We ate them up the next day.

The crabapples and in a good supply, but so high I don't know if we will be able to shake them down. They are above the tree tops, really in the skyline above the trees. It is really fun wandering in the woods. Now that mushroom season is on, I'm sure we will have a lot more exploring to do.

The last few days, three to be exact, have been beautiful. I think we are due for some showers this coming weekend, but no freezes in town yet. Judi reported frosts at the farm.

Until we hear from you again, and until we SEE you again, keep well and we'll do the same here on the WEST Coast. I read in one of my magazines that we don't get enough Vitamin D3 so I am going to get some and try it out.

Love to all, Bopcha

Rangeritis

Yes, it is easy to get addicted. Diana, Kay, and Judi and myself enjoyed tours across the creek on my new bridge==WHO IS THAT GOING OVER MY BRIDGE? Big, medium and little billy goat gruff!!!! That is what it reminds me of. Gil and Susan also enjoyed the view from the other side. Sid and KC, I wish you have been here. Bill drove up in the woods over the trails that Sid had worked over when he was here. It is very passable.

Boy, the weather is sure nice today. This morning the moon was hanging over the horizon. It is so pretty when it is pale like that reflecting the morning sun.

All for now---love, Bopcha

The Latest from Bopcha

I have ordered an ATV, a Polaris Ranger. Today, Ed and Emily, our neighbors on Henkle Way, removed the trailer parked in the middle spot of the garage. Ed moved the canopy that was on Uncle Matt's truck to the top of the garage. Perfect! Now there will be room for my NEW ATV. I'm going to insist that anyone who drives it wear a hard hat, so we will look like

I give up.

Hnnnnmmmmmmm!

Thursday

I do not have an ATV yet. It seems the salesman at Smuckers sold me one on paper, and now finds he does not have one in stock. Oh my, I thought I was such a good customer, and he was such a nice salesman!!! Do I always have to learn the hard way that 'niceness' is not always the way to get things done! Gerald calls me each night and tells me he is "looking".

The bridge is so pretty. I'm tempted to paint it pink or yellow to make it stand out. Maybe stripes would be pretty.

There are lots of apples on the ground. The deer are just not doing their job eating all the fallen apples. I was at the farm this morning and was mildly surprised at how the latest batch of chickens have grown. Fred is the smallest in his group, and Ginger is the smallest in her group. Bitten is the senior chicken of them all.

Tory, I'm so glad you are back! Love, Bopcha

This is so much fun!

Sid, your directions were very good. I printed the map of the farm. Very Interesting.

KC, I see you are back home! I'll bet it felt good!

Tory will be home soon. Happy days.

Love from Bopcha

Tory, the Terrific

Those letters from Tory are absolutely so entertaining. It is such a treat for KC to share the letters with us.

The bridge is in. And the ramps leading up to it are in place. Now, we will see how they last when the rain comes this winter.

On the other side of the creek, we found a huge crabapple tree, a wild plum tree, and many, many blackberries.

Now, today I will be shopping for an ATV!!! Yippee! Love from Bopcha, CEO

KC, the picture of Ambassador is pretty but what happened to his tail?

Bridge update

Jim Tice said they would bring the bridge in on Monday. I'm excited but wary. I sure hope it fits the space I have chosen for it.

KC, the letter from Tory was much appreciated. That little rascal is really gifted in giving us the flavor of her travels. I haven't figured out yet how to write her.

BALM

I went to the farm yesterday. Everything was quiet. The chickens were in back of the chicken house resting and the little ones were inside the woodshed. There was no activity at all around the bridge site. Mr. Ferrin (I think that is his name) is going to make firewood out of the balm tree and Douglas-fir that was pulled out of the swimming hole, and said as soon as it rains, he is very fire aware, that he will cut down the five dead standing trees by the field.

Today I went to the Polaris dealer (Smuckers) and looked at the Ranger and drove it around a little bit. It seems pretty stable. It is fun talking things over with a polite salesman--they want to make a sale so put on their best manners. I appreciate it.

The little blue house I looked at for Nina comes with a finished one story house on the same lot. The little blue one is sort of run down so I thought it might be real cheap by Corvallis standards. The two together sell for $450.000. I am going to have the real estate agent take me through. It is so much fun, and sales people are soooo polite.

Isn't it fantastic to have a balm tree on our property? I think it is the same as the Balm of Gilliad. Maybe I'll make up a poem about it----once upon a time there was a lamb that liked to rest beneath the balm......
