Pacific Ocean at Waldport and Newport

There was very little wind at the coast today, in spite of the forecast. Sid and I had a great time. On the way home, we got some crab meat and ate it during the drive back to Corvallis. My camera stayed in my car, and now my keys and cell phone are in Sid's car and Sid is at Fred Meyers to get some of his film developed so he can put it on the blog. What a process. I wish I could help, but I don't know beans about putting pictures on the blog.

Joe, I think of you whenever I think of quail, and I wonder if you and your partner have the same amount. We started out with twelve baby chickens, hatched by our mother hen, and now have only four. The remaining four are quite grown up but I don't know what h

appened to the others.

As you can see I am still having trouble with writing. Merry Christmas! There. Love, Bopcha

High Wind Warning

... High Wind Warning remains in effect from 8 am this morning to

6 PM PST this afternoon for the South Washington and north and

central Oregon coasts...

A High Wind Warning remains in effect from 8 am this morning to

6 PM PST this afternoon.

A strong Pacific front will bring very gusty winds to the South

Washington and north and central Oregon coasts today. South winds

of 35 to 45 mph with gusts to 65 mph will develop early this

morning. These winds will be strongest near the beaches and

headlands but may also affect the coastal communities. As the

front moves inland wind gusts up to 50 mph are also expected in

the higher elevations of the north and central Oregon Coast Range.

The winds should begin to decrease late in the afternoon.

Sid and I are off to the coast to watch the fun.

Love Bopcha

PS

Maybe we will climb seal rock for a nice view!!

Sorry to miss everyone

Hello everyone,

I really am sorry I will miss all you this Christmas. It is especially sad since Sid won't even be around and I will be alone this Christmas. My doctor also thought it would be a wise idea to be conservative with travel and just stay in town and rest. But I would love to be there this Christmas nonetheless.

Tomorrow morming I will be driving Sid to the airport at the crack of dawn. This flight should get him to Oregon pretty early in the day. Diana, when will you be in in Oregon for the holidays. I will miss seeing you guys too. Diana, thanks for your comment about my presence etc...... I appreciate that.

This weekend, we will be celebrating my mother's 70th birthday. She is still working full-time as if she were 62. Not sure when her working life will conclude. I think she still wants to work to some extent. We shall see what happens.

Bopcha, by the way thanks for your birthday wishes, I am sure she will appreciate it.

I will try to write updates during this Christmas season, to keep in touch with you all. Thanks for being so understanding about my not being able to make it there. Take care and I will be in touch soon.

Love,

Sandra

Wednesday in Corvallis

Today I go to REPAK, WHEN we take frozen vegetables from HUGE bins, and repak them them in plastic bags with enough vegies for six servings. I am part of a crew of six people that open the plastic bags so that they will be easy to fill. It is not difficult and a suitable occupation for a woman who is 88 years old. We work about two hours, then have a potluck and then a drawing for some great prizes. Then we go home with a feeling of having contributed a little bit for the less fortunate in our society.

Last week a possum entered my live animal trap and found he couldn't get out!!! I thought it would make such a nice pet, but the rascal was GONE the next morning. It had figured out a way to get out. I caught a big cat once, but I turned it loose.

It is going to be great to see Sid this Christmas, and I am thinking of Sandra making a decision in her own interests. Good for you Sandra!

I must get ready to leave, so love from Bopcha and Sandra wish your mother a HAPPY birthday for me.

Arrrrrgggghhhhh!

Why is this, one of the most beautiful and celebratory times of the year, one of the most stressful?

I have no little children to care for.

I have a good job.

I have a nice husband.

My kids are not in jail or rehab.

My cat is healthy.

The weather is decent.

Why am I grouchy this morning?!?!

Sandra, we will miss seeing you. Sid without Sandra is like morning without coffee!!! We love you and pray for your complete recovery. If I promise to be able to run around the farm trail loop will you promise to come out this summer?

Don't ANYBODY mess with me today.

Diana

Hello Again

Yes who is that young man with the Afro? Certainly is noticeable isn't it? Those are good photos.

Well as you probably heard there is a change of plan with my travels. This year is proving to be a very challgenging year with my share of health issues. After much evaluation and the realization of what my work schedule will be like the first week of January, we decided that perhaps traveling for me at this point is not such a wise idea. I am sad that I won't be visiting all of you and I would have also enjoyed being in Oregon during the Christmas season for a change of pace.

So it looks like Sid and I will be on different coasts this year for Christmas. It should be interesting. :-)

As you may already know, my family has a tradition of eating different fish dishes on Christmas Eve. So that is what we will be doing. Sid and I had actually entertained the idea of having a little touch of that tradition in Oregon. But now I am not so sure if that will happen. One year we will definitely have the all out fish tradition on a Christmas Eve in Oregon. It is something worth living through at least once.

So what is everyone up to for this holiday period? Diana, it sounds like you will be traveling to Coravallis. I am so sorry that I won't get to see you and Bill. I wish I were having a better year and things were going more smoothly for me.

I am wishing for a better 2008 - but who knows what each year will bring right. Good health is really all I wish you for.

Take good care everyone and I will write in again soon.

Who is that boy with the big afro?

Happy December

Hello Everyone,

I can't believe we are already well into the month of December. It seems like we barely finished with Thanksgiving and we are already getting ready for Christmas. I am glad to hear that Diana and Bill will be in Corvallis the weekend before Christmas. We should be able to pass away an enjoyable holiday weekend.

As far as holiday parties go, there are plenty of them going on at work that inevitably you get invited to. I am just going to be conservative and go to those events where I really feel like my presence is being "counted." I have two parties that I must attend next week. Also next week is my mother's birthday - imagine that one week before Christmas. This year is a big one, she will be 70 years old.

Where is everybody?

OK, family and friends, let's get with it and let the rest of us know what you are up to.

Here in Seattle we are preparing for our Dec. 15 holiday fest at the Blakney abode. We have our tree up, the outside lights hung, and are now focusing on our menu.

Noah is prepping for finals, JB is busy with her new store, Bill is attending one or another holiday function almost daily, and I am generally just enjoying myself.

We plan on coming down to Corvallis on the weekend before Christmas. That way we can see Sandra and Sid at the same time.

Love,

Dee
