Wednesday

Bill and I made it through Monday, and felt pretty good Tuesday morning so we decided to go all day until dinner Tuesday night and then eat a salad. It was hard sometimes, but thankfully, Noah's team (Beef Mayo) had a game Monday night, so we were distracted. And yes, they won rather nicely! We will definitely try it again. Probably next week.

Love,

Dee

Tuesday (this is Kay)

How many days do you plan to do the Bruess diet? Let us know how it goes and good luck. Sorry about the smudges of peanut butter on this message.

Let the chickens, geese and ducks out this morning and they are all so different and funny to watch. Besides the Rooster called Big, Judi has another rooster that is harassing the hens and I think will shortly become known as fried rooster. Don't know who it going to take him out but it isn't me.

Sid called today from Crater Lake and said it was spectacular. He and Sandra were going hiking and he sounded good.

Got my first cherry tomato from my plant yesterday and ate it immediately. Oh by the way great farmer that I am, what I thought were cucumber plants seem to have squash on them. Oh well, squash, cucumbers, whatever.

Fasting

Bill and I are Breussing it today.

I'll let you know how we do.

So far so good, but the evenings are always the hardest ...

Love,

Dee

Thursday (this is Kay)

What a really great picture of all of you. Some really great genetics going on with those kids and you and Bill really look great also.

The dogs and I are at Bopcha's house and then I think I will run out to the farm. Even with air conditioning my little trailer gets really hot and today is supposed to be hotter than yesterday.

Looking forward to seeing Sandra tomorrow and if she thinks that she will be escaping the heat - NOT.

Jessica's 26th birthday!

Jess, Noah and Bill - hungry and anxious to leave for the Cree's party!

Me and JB, equally hungry and ready to celebrate Jessica's 26th birthday.

Aphids

Rossana, thank you so much to the tip. I went out today and bought ladybugs from a local nursery. I am hoping they do the trick. It was fun to turn them loose and watch them crawl over eveything. I did water everything really, really well before turning them loose. We will see.

Today was warm and the rest of the week should be even warmer. At least we have a breeze. I wasn't able to get the trailer below 84 today so don't know what will happen tomorrow.

This is Rossana writing...

Hey all...just saw Kay's blog about aphids...a great solution that we tried is buying pre-packaged ladybugs. Seriously, we found them in a nursery. They were selling these boxes with ladybugs and lots of eggs. The claim is that ladybugs LOVE to eat aphids. I don't know if any nurseries out there sell them but it works. Just make sure your garden is nice and moist ... water it well just before you place the ladybugs around because if there isn't enough water they will fly away.

Diana, thanks for the photo of that adorable little bug. Alex was very impressed!!

Love to Bopcha!!

Monday

Happy Birthday again, Jessica B.

Today I went up to the top of Chip Ross Park and saw nothing but beautiful trees and birds. Driving out of the park a deer ran in front of me and then another one followed. I looked to my right and 5 of them were standing in someone's yard. I pulled over to the side to watch and one of the 5 was a very leggy fawn who was not sticking close to it's mother but sniffing out the porch. They didn't seem to be the least afraid of me and just kind of watched me from time to time and kept on eating.

I then took the dogs home, picked up laundry and went to the laundromat. When that was done I decided to set up my ironing board in the front room so I could watch TV and work. Set up the ironing board and then bent down to plug in the iron and at that point my skinny little hindend hit the table next to a chair - down went the table and the lamp and smash into my china cabinet. Picked up the table and it was okay, checked the glass on the cabinet and could not find any breaks, picked up the lamp and it was missing one whole side. You know how it is when you find the perfect reading lamp that stands at just the right height. Not that I don't have other lamps but they stink. So, I went and bought a second hand lamp to replace the broken guy. We will see how the lamp works out and don't think I will try ironing in the front room again.

Then I tried moving my air conditioner into the front room because tomorrow is supposed to be a killer. It wasn't heavy but it was awkward. Finally mastered that chore and it seems to be working. If my trailer goes up in smoke during the night, it was either the new old lamp and/or the air conditioner which was sitting on the porch all winter.

Have a great work week all you working peeps.

Sunday

It already feels warm outside. About time to move my airconditioner off the porch and into the house.

Theresa was in Greece recently and told her mom it was beautiful. Don't know where she is at the moment. Maxx is in Ridgecrest with his Aunt for the 4th and they have joined the Lloyd clan at some lake for a big 4th of July get together which includes, of course, fireworks.

Randy seems to be missing in action so Stephanie is going to have a welfare check done.

Will be popping over to Bopcha soon and then out to the farm. I am supposed to be looking for slugs to feed to her waterfowl but between rain sessons they are a little hard to find. Found out my wildflower patch is covered with aphids. I will probably need to hit Home Depot or a nursery and get something. Does anyone have some sort of make it at home solution for aphids?

HAPPY 4th of July.

Kay

From Diana

Hello all and Happy Fourth of July!!!!!

We heard all kinds of firecrackers last night at about ten or ten thirty.

All is well here in Corvallis. I blew up Judi's electric mower trying to mow the back yard. It emitted black smelly smoke and blew a fuse. Gulp! I ran down and rented a gasoline mower to finish the job. That back yard is just a bit much for an electric mower, or perhaps I put a bad spell on it! I hope I am safely back on the Island before Judi finds out.

Bopcha, Sid and I went out to the farm yesterday. Bopcha wanted to see how well the diesel fuel had caused the burn pile to disappear. It did a great job! Judi said the smoke was so black she was confident the fire officials were going to come and arrest her.

Judi is making cherry preserves out of cherries one of Kay's neighbor's donated. Yum!

KC, you left a cell phone charger here. I will put it in the "Big D" room for your next visit. And, by the way, thanks for giving me that Chico cover up blouse. I love it!

As for the baby book? I'm pretty sure that is not you in the photos. Looks like that orphan child mother found in the alley - oh, ooops, that was you, wasn't it? Ha ha ha .....

Love,

Dee

House (this is Kay)

Thanks Dee, the house looks pretty darn good. Hope for their sake it sells soon and/or they give it back. Now that they have updated the kitchen, I think I will love it even more.

Sid is out running errands and Bopcha is taking a rest. When Sid returns, I will go pickup my dogs and head for Chip Ross park.

Looking forward to Dee coming down this weekend and Sandra coming in the next. Love having everybody in town. Remember if we have too many for the house and farm, I always have a couch and I think a blowup mattress.

Made an interesting dish last night that I pulled from the internet - onions saute in 1/2 cup butter and then cabbage added and then cooked egg noodles added. I love all the ingredients but it was really tasteless - however with that much butter it all slid right down my throat to my hips and thighs. Okay, maybe I will do Chip Ross twice.
