Corvallis Murder!!

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A major crimes team is asking for the public's help after a 78-year-old woman was found dead in her Corvallis apartment.

Police said they found Yvonne Perry dead in her apartment on Janssen Street in Corvallis on Sunday. The apartment complex remained a crime scene Monday.

Corvallis police have not said how Perry died, but it appears she died a violent death. The person or people responsible for her death likely had blood on their clothing, shoes or skin after the murder, which occurred sometime between Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

"Nothing ever happens here except for the occasional break-in," said Phil Brenne, who lives in the neighborhood. "Here (and) murder -- the two words together kind of blows my mind."

Corvallis police and a Benton County major crimes team are still investigating. Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area is asked to call 541-766-6975.

That indeed is a great picture! Love, Bopcha

My Photo Got the Cover

Tory, Tom, and I went to the American Sighthound Field Association International Invitational -- we ran hounds of course, but also off the course, I photographed the participants (standing under a tent in heavy downpour) and Tory help edit the pictures. One of my pictures (of the ultimate winner of the competition) ended up on the cover of the magazine. I was so delighted I had to share. Here it is:

Electrifying Experiences

The wedding for Elizabeth must have been fabulous. I neglected to get my gift into the mailbox, so I'm aggravated at myself. I would have loved to indulge in Judi's cooking too. Now I'll have to be satisfied with the blog entries--once Dee, Kay, or Judi have time to put them in. Hopefully some pictures too.

Just wanted to remind Sid, since he's obviously looking to employ Bop's Alligator on some tree limbs: watch out for power lines!!! When I was living in Omaha, a worker got electrocuted when he inadvertantly touched a wire with his ladder as he was prepping to paint the upper gables of my landlord's house. Also, more recently (1 month ago), a borzoi friend decided to cut some limbs down from around the house. The limb he was cutting touched a wire and his aluminum ladder. As he had one hand on the ladder, the current froze his hand around the ladder. Rey managed to push back with his free hand, jerking the frozen hand loose, but falling 20 feet to the ground. He was wearing heavy gloves and managed to escape the incident with a deep burn spot in his hand, scrambled nerves (jerky movement that's gradually subsiding) but no heart damage, broken vertebrae in his tail bone, and a fractured hip socket that's deeped inoperable. Poor guy. Be careful Sid!!!

Yeow!

I've been busy, busy, busy since my return from Chicago. I printed out 30 8x10 photos for the Ed Pepple party. Not only did I have to sort through hundreds of photos, I didn't realize how much ink it takes to print, so I kept running out! I have them done now, and in a few minutes I will take them to the Maidenbower (spl.) Center and help decorate.

Weather should be pretty nice for the wedding. Cool, with no rain. Can't wait to sample all of Judith's tasty treats! It will be fun car pooling with Tory and Kay.

Our dishwasher is broken - I ordered a part on-line. Hope it works! I've been inspired by my brother who isn't afraid to fix stuff himself.

Mother, I will bring Noah's graduation album down to you next weekend. It is fabulous! I will also return the Alligator so Sid can cut limbs if he wants to. Yes, and I will return that nice cooler you sent up with us last time.

Love,

Dee

Bill and Dee to CVO on the weekend of the 15th

Bill and I will be going to Corvallis the weekend of August 15 to inspect all the work Sid has accomplished.

I suspect Judith is at Cousin Roy's house by now. We are carpooling to the wedding with Tory and Kay. Jessica is going also. The family will be well represented. I will get photos to share with the rest of you.

Friday night is the big retirement celebration for Noah's high school basketball coach, Ed Pepple. I am printing out photos to display. They shouldn't have given me the job - pretty much all of the photos I am selecting have Noah in them!

KC, I have not opened any presents (except Kay's - it came before I left for Chicago. Kay, I read all the books and wore the beautiful earrings on my trip! Thank you - plus the card was amazing!). I think we are celebrating tonight. We had to coordinate with the children's work schedules so I have had to walk by a stack of gifts for a couple of days now and it is really hard!

Gotta get some work done!

Love,

Dee

Welcome Home Dee - and Other Stuff

Nice pictures Diana!! You look so elegant and leaderlike. Did you like your birthday present? I'm sorry I didn't take time to wrap it.

Sid - my goodness, you are a machine!!!

Sandra - I don't blame you for feeling uneasy about leaving work when cutbacks are ongoing. That's a totally reasonable reaction, if you ask me. Even if you are really, really good at what you do and know that you are appreciated, it's scary to be out of sight--and possibly out of mind.

Home Again!

Here's me on my birthday in Chicago. I'll write more later.

We went to a church located in Cabrini Green on Sunday morning. Here is a young woman from Jamaica who was here for the first time.

Linda (left), me, and Carla (right). We three came with our pastor.

Happy, happy birthday Dee!!

Happy birthday Diana -- from the two operatic sounding voices singing to you at the breakfast table this moring. Lots of love and may you have many, Many, and MORE to come. Love, Tom and KC
