Yippee

Congratulations to Jessica and Gavin. This may get posted twice because I ran into problems. Looking forward to hearing more details. I am very excited.

Pictures

Great pictures of the Philadelphia, Colorado, Mercer Island and Seattle people visiting in Colorado. That's right I just went on this morning to play catchup. Boy I would like to know the story behind the woodpile that Sid is standing near. I must say, I don't think I have ever seen Sid on a horse. Chances are pretty good that you won't see me on one. Not so much of a horse person. We're good as long as I am on one side of the fence and those guys with their big teeth are on the other.

Enjoyed all the pictures.

We have a little fog this morning. I understand that Philadelphia is a little cool and I would imagine the Colorado is probably a tad cool. I think fall might be here. Decided it was time to wheel my air conditioner back out onto the porch. Need every bit of space I can find in my little digs and think the need for cool air might be a done deal for the year.

Headed out to the farm tomorrow so they can pick up the Ranger. Lots and lots of apples so might grab some for applesauce.

Whale Watching

The boat trip out of Depoe Bay was fun and we did see a couple of whales and some sea lions.

Both my car and my RV are in the shop. Can we say GRR.

Diana and I have great luck and it held on this trip. The weather on the coast held until the boat docked and then shortly thereafter it sprinkled a bit. A a wonderful bowl of chowder in Newport. We some some whale watching Zodiacs at Depoe Bay and I want to investigate and see what it costs to take a trip out in one of those.

Yes, I know, I look just lovely in the stocking hat. But listen it was warm and I was darn glad Diana brought the hats.

Max thinks it might be hunters that left the leg bones because no rib bones were visible. He said hunters often times cut off the legs. I have no idea but I since I haven't had a chance to do an on site investigation of the bones, I will make my decision at a later date. (When Diana finds the bones again and can take me to them.) Signed: Chief Inspector Daniels.

Tiller

We had a wonderful time. We crammed an amazing amount of things into a very small amount of time. They now have wild turkeys in the Tiller area (imported) and wild deer roaming the Ranger Station. Diana's picture does not do justice as to how close that deer actually was and how unafraid it was.

The area really is amazingly beautiful. However, unless you are into only fishing, hiking, gardening or doing crafts you probably would not want to retire to the area. Medical facilities are not close -- or anything else. On the other hand, my friends that live in the Days Creek/Tiller area seem to be very happy and have very long marriages. The long marriages might be due to the fact the pickings are probably pretty slim in the area.

There seems to be some money in the area with the cars, houses and large cleared fields we passed.

Noah

I would have given anything to see Noah in that elevator with those very tall women. Wish he could have hooked up with one of those very athletic and tall women. Can you imagine the size of their kids. What a sight that must have been. Bet Noah didn't breath until he got to the men's room.

Thursday

Wow Dee, I am impressed.

Okay, death report. I was just at the farm and the goose is dead. Something must have gotten it last night. They gutted and ate the insides. None of us have seen Miss Kitty so I have asked Tiffany to keep her eyes open.

Tiffany had a doctor's appointment today and it appears everything is healing okay but they warned her not to injure the ankle again. Duh.

Tory, have fun in Iceland and yep we want lots of pictures.

Oh, Judi said we could hatch some eggs and give her 4 chicks for in town. Well Tiffany put 9 eggs in her incubator and 8 eggs hatched. So we are going to determine which ones are roosters and put an ad on Craig's List. They are so blooming cute. Right now they are in a big plastic container in the bathroom at the farm and Saturday, Tiff takes them over to Judi's house.

Noah

That picture of the protestors is really scary.

Hope to see lots of pictures taken in Houston.

Les' 4th wife (Aunalee) is dying of cancer. When she goes I will be his last living exwife. First Frieda died, then Jerri, now Aunalee is going (wives 2, 3 & 4). Who is the last ex standing. What am I saying - the current wife has all the benefits not the ex.

Been fighting computer issues and word processing issues to the point of throwing the computer out the window. I called Diana this evening for some help. I know Tom and Sid are the computer geeks but they forget to dummy stuff down.

Looking forward to the coursing event in Richland.

Farm

Great pictures Dee. I am out at the farm and see no turkeys but lots of fresh droppings. I noticed the other day that there weren't any coyote droppings on the bridge. I wonder if they have moved on or think Missy Goose is too tough to eat.

The wind is blowing and the rain a coming down. Poor dogs went in for their rabies shots today and seem a little subdued.

KC what do you recommend (shampoo/lotion, etc.) for a dog with really dry skin. Ramone has developed what looks like dandruff. I tried one of the sample shampoos that you sent me (oatmeal & something) for dogs with dry skin. Don't know if it helped or not.

Tory

Just as photogenic as her mum. Great pictures. Elwood - kind of sounds like a possible husband for me. Elwood, Elwood, Kay and Elwood. See kind of goes together.

Friday

What great pictures. I checked the bridge at the farm and it is still in place. Rock Creek is really high and Marys River is at flood stage. I had standing water around and under my trailer but most of it disappeared yesterday but it is raining again today so expect some water. Those little cabins that are at the Y outside of Philomath have standing water up to their doors and it looks like the vehicles just might float away.

I am trying to determine whether or not a store run is worth the effort due to standing water. The rivers were supposed to crest last night so I think everything is going down. The rest of you are probably dealing with snow and ice.

Monday

There is never a time that the farm does not absolutely take my breath away.

My Christmas decorations are pretty sparse but I do have a few out.

Ramone is having balance problems (hind legs). He started falling and has trouble on my kitchen floor. The vet thinks it is what he had before - a disk problem. There is not much they can do but I am going to do the exercises that I did the first time around. She does not think there will be a great deal of improvement. SO, we will keep going as long as he can walk and is not in pain. It seems my long walks with the dogs are out or at least I will need to carry Ramone most of the way.

Since the dogs and I had our encounter with a coyote on Chip Ross, I bought a can of pepper spray that shoots 15 feet and a loud whistle. My neighbor said that most of her encounter with coyotes are when she walks her dog early in the morning.

Sandra, so glad you are feeling better - what a relief. Onward with the biscotti making - don't forget those of us on the west coast.

Wickles

You deserve every pound you gain since you are the one that got me addicted and then my stores stopped carrying them.

Took the dogs to MLK for a walk this morning and in driving home I happened to glance to my left and saw 3 deer trotting down the sidewalk. I then glanced to my right and a deer was standing on the sidewalk facing the road like it was waiting for a light. Because I had just gone through a school zone, I was going slow but upon seeing the deer, I slowed ever further and the deer crossed behind my car and in front of the car following me. I am so hoping that the little herd of 4 gets off the sidewalk and into the trees at some point.

It amazes me that I can walk in some out of the way places - see nothing and continue to see deer in town.

Max was working on the front door of Judi's house yesterday to try and stop air leakage. He does good work.

Who has their Christmas decorations up?

Happy Birthday Bop

You may not be with us anymore but you remain in our hearts. Happy Birthday. I remember our trip to the Lambing Barn and will go again in the Spring. Thank you for the memory.

Food

That write up about the Deli would make anyone stop in. I just need to keep a copy in my purse so that when I eventually stop in, I will have some idea what to order. Makes my heart happy that Murray is part of it.
